"TO KNOW HOW TO GROW
OLD IS THE MASTER-
WORK OF WISDOM"
Not so long ago there were
fewer old folks because the
average person who reached
50 was considered lucky. Now
with an average life expec
tancy of about 70 years,
there are many more people
who are old in years but
young in health.
There are two wise rules
that will make your added
years healthier. Always visit
your physician at the first
sign of any illness, and regu
larly take one of the geriatric
vitamins that will supply the
extra energy needed. For just
a few cents per day you can
get from us vitamins made
by the dependable pharma
ceutical firms who discovered
and perfected them.

^Quotation by Henri Amiel
(1821-1881)
The, net realized program loss to
the Commodity Credit Corporation
on price-suppprt operations for the
11 months ended May 31, 1957 to
taled more than $1 billion 153
million according to a Department
of Agriculture reported recently
issued. This compares with a loss
of over $844 million for the same
period a year ago. For the fiscal
year ended June 30, 1956, the pro
gram loss on price support opera
tions amounted to almost $975
million.
As of May 31„ CCC had an in
vestment in price-support programs
of more than $7.6 billion. This
figure includes outstanding loans
made by CCC, loans financed by
lending agencies, and the cost
value of CCC inventories. A year
ago the investment was $8.5 bil
lion.
Price-support operatiohs in four
commodities accounted for the bulk
of the May 31 loan total $2.1 bil
lion. The four crops listed in or
der of the dollar investment were
corn, $713 million: upland cotton,
$618 million; tobacco, $585 million;
and soybeans, $86 million.
The inventory cost value for the
same period was over $5.5 billion
and wheat inventories led with a
dollar value of $2.3 billion: coin
was second with an .inventory
investment of $1.5 billion. Upland
cotton in inventory accounted for
approximately $880 million.
