above referred to plat lying or be

trict, shown on plat and blue
print of the property of Mrs. Jen
nie McCants, same being recorded
in the Clerk’s office, Taylor County
Superior Court in Deed Book “R”
Pages 47 and 48. Also thirty-six
and seven-eighth (36 7/8) acres,
a part of lot of land number
seven in the Fifteenth land dis
trict of said Taylor County, a part
of the place known as “The Old
Eb Whittle Place," consisting of
two tracts, one of fifteen acres
lying immediately South of the
pond known as the “Old McCants
Mill Pond” and purchased by R. S.
West from Mrs. Eldora Amerson
by her warranty deed dated July
25, 1935. And another tract of
twenty - one and seven • eighth
<21 7/8) acres purchased by R. S.
West of Mrs. Mamie Greathouse
by her warranty deed recorded Oct.
16, 1937 in Deed Book "W” on
page 246 in the Office of the Clerk
of Superior Court, Taylor County.
Said security deed conveying the
above described real estate was
executed and delivered by Pierre
Howard and Garland T. Byrd to
W. F. Gray on August 23, 1956,
together with the notes recited
therein, as shown recorded in
Deed Book 8, page 57, in the Of
fice of the Clerk of Superior Court
Taylor County, Georgia. Because of
default in the payment of the
debt secured by said deed to se
cure debt, the undersigned has
declared the balance and entire in
debtedness of said obligation as
due.
The proceed of said sale will be
applied as is provided in said
deed to secure debt.

Increasing
TIFTON, Ga., Nov. 14—A great
increase in setting of peach trees
in south Georgia and north Florida
was reported at a "Peach and
Pear” short course at Abraham
Baldwin Agriculture College.
Ray L. Livingston of Athens, head
of the extension service horticul
ture department, said he had been
informed that 20,004 peach trees
had been set out in one south
Georgia county, and some had been
placed in other south Georgia coun
ties and in north Florida.
The trees are of new varieties
which, do. not - -require as much cold
weather as some grown in mid
dle Georgia counties. These new
varieties may also be grown in
southern portions of Florida.

Operator at Talbotton
25 Years, Dies
TALBOTTON, Ga.—Miss Ella Bess
Hudson, 63, a telephone operator
for 25 years at the Talbotton
switchboard, died Monday night
after an illness of one year.
“Miss Bess” was honored several
years ago at the dedication of the
dial telephone sytem here. A
number of Talbotton citizens paid
tribute to her service in all emer
gencies.
She was secretary of the Utelwi-
co Inc., the local telephone com
pany, at the time of her death.
Funeral services were held at
2 p. m. Wednesday at the Talbot
ton Methodist Church, with the Rev.
C. R. McKibben officiating. Burial
was in the family cemetery in Tay
lor County.
Survivors include several nices
and nephews.
John A. Roberts
Named Sales Engineer
For Ga. Power Co.
John A Roberts has been named
the Ga. Power Company’s commer
cial sales engineer for the Ameri-
cus district, Jack A. Gantt, district
manager, announced today.
Formerly of Rome, Ga., Mr. Rob
erts graduated from Ga. Militory
College, Milledgeville, and holds
the degree of associate science in
electrical engineering from South
ern Technical Institute.
He joined the power company as
an engineer in 1957, and one of
the first assignments was in the
construction of Oliver Dam, 60,000-
kilowatt generating plant at Co
lumbus. He has been serving as a
commercial sales engineer at Co
lumbus since 1959.
2 Men Save Woman,
82, In Atlanta
Atlanta, Nov. 27—Two men broke
into aburning house early Satur
day and rescued an 82-year-old
woman who had been overcome by
smoke.
The woman, Lula Cummings,
Negor, of 1076 Manigault St., SE,
was revived with the aid of a res-
uscitator and sent to Grady Hospi
tal for treatment.
Capt. M. F. McGill of the Atlanta
Fire Department said the woman
was lying on a bed unconscious
when the rescers got to her. Their
action saved her life, he said.
