issued. When the proposal is sub
mitted, it must be accompanied by
a certified check, cashier’s check,
negotiable United States Bonds, or
other acceptable security in the
amount of $9000.00, and must be

liams, 24, alias James Edwards of
Rt- 7, by U. S. Commissioner L. H.
Robinson on recommendation of
Asst. U.S. Atty. F. M. Buford.
The charge was forgery in cash
ing government checks for only
$109.13 but Buford said Williams
and associates might be involved
in the stealing and cashing of
around 400 checks.
The attorney said the investiga
tion involved the cities of Colum
bia and Memphis, Tenn.; Kansas
City, and a number of other out of
state points as well as several
cities in Georgia.
The investigators declined to re
lease full details pending ot’her
possible arrests.
Joining in the inquiry were Pos
tal Inspector N. T. Underwood,
Macon, and Secret Service Agent
R. C. Quinn, Atlanta.
