I The Butler Canning Plant com
pleted the canning season of the
year on Thursday. Mr. Herman
j Parks, of Reynolds, operated the
I plant assisted by Ronald Morrill, of
Reynolds. This plant is operated as
a part of the Vocational Agriculture
Program of Butler High School.
| In all there were 2,086 cans of
the pint size and 4,902 cans of the
, quart size processed by the plant
| for 61 different individuals, 3,945
of these cans were vegetables for
the home table this winter while
3,043 were cans of fruits,
i Another service offered to the
homemakers of the community was
the preparation of food for home
freezers. Approximately 125 bushels
of beans and peas were shelled in
addition to other foods prepared.
1 Plans are being made for next
season and include improving the
arrangement of the equipment of
the canning plant and providing
, more adequate work space for pre
paring products for canning and
freezing.
