TOUR OF THE WEEK
Georgia Department of Commerce

SANDERSVILLE CELEBRATES
, KAOLIN FESTIVAL
1^" In the heart of Georgia, there is a small community which can equal
the achievements in industry and progress of any area in Georgia.
Business in this town is good; the schools, planned with much fore-
eight; churches and organizations, numerous and active. It’s a wonder
ful place to live—and exciting things are happening about now.
Beginning October 1st, Sandersville will sponsor her 6th Annual
Kaolin Festival. Opening with a golf tournament at the country club
on Sunday, the week-long celebration will be festive with events such
as a parade of over a hundred floats and units, the crowning of the
Washington County Queen, class reunions, a festival dance and banquet.
1 Displays of county products will be shown during the week, featur
ing products both of agriculture and industry. This display at the Wash
ington Marketing Association will include a barrow exhibit which is, to
our sophisticated city friends, a sv.4 ne show.
Touring the seven extensive Kaolin companies is a Festival high
light. The world’s center of the kaolin mining and processing industry,
Washington County boasts supplying 80% of the nation’s kaolin needs,
j Sandersville, at the crossroads of Georgia on highways 15 and 24,
warmly welcomes all visitors, with a cordial invitation to share her
celebration of a prosperous and growing community.
