There j isn’t a wife today who couldn’t use the time and energy that’s saved each day by a kitchen telephone. No more running to answer a ringing phone in another part of the house, and no missed calls either. Inexpensive too, only pennies a day. \ Public Service Telephone Company The Alpha Lambda Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gammar Society met Jan. 19th at the Perry Hotel. The president, Miss Nola Brantley of Warner Robins, presided. After the committee reports and a short business meeting, Miss Brantley guided the members on a tour thru Afghaniston — and what a delightful tour it was! Although Miss Brantley declared that the shoes taken in Afghaniston and the souvenirs on display belonged to her sister who was sent to Afghaniston by the University of Wisconsin, the tour did not seem to be guided by second hand infor mation. Because of such a realistic pre sentation of the people, their cul ture, their religion and their desire for progress, the members are in debted to Miss Brantley for giving them a keener interest in and a deeper understanding of the people of Afghaniston. CiUSmOLET AtvotUeA. kind ol H&dUtich The Rural Electric System is a kind of “yard stick”, too . . . How? . . . Well, electricity is a commodity, like many of the things you need and buy every day. The Rural Electrics were organiz ed by their Member-Owners to bring electric service into the un-served areas at the lowest possible cost. By operating efficiently . . . managing each dollar carefully . . . observing sound business practices — and still serving the remote, thinly-populated areas — Rural Elec trics are a kind of “yardstick” whereby electric power rates may be evaluated and measured. • - i This obviously works to the benefit of all users of electricity everywhere, because it pro vides a demonstrated basis on which to com-, pare the costs of electric service.
