EDWIN T. HEATH. H. Thad Crawley Attorney at Law Butler, Georgia Atlanta, Ga. — A number of form er servicemen, their widows, and their dependent children not previously qualified for veterans’ benefits because they served less than 90 days on active duty may inow be eligible for benefits under a new federal law, Ga. Veterans Service Director Pete Wheeler has announced. The newlaw passed by the last Congress, allows the certified trav el time from base of duty to home to count in computing the veterans active duty time. It is estimated that this new law [will make 2,500 veterans who have previously been tunned down, eligi ble for vets’ benefits. It will also qualify a great number of unknown widows and dependent children for veteran’s pensions, Wheeler said. The new law may be of particu lar interest to veterans of the Spanish American war and their survivors since this group can qualify for a special lower-rate pension if they had active duty service of days. Any veteran who believes he may now qualify for veterans benefits by adding his travel time home to his active duty time should im mediately contact the nearest of fice of the Ga. Department of VA Service for assistance. There is a VA office located in I this city. Alumnae Day, Woman’s College Set for April 28 IT TAXES US All , .
