18 Persons Met
Violent Deaths
During Weekend
Atlanta, Ga. — Eighteen persons
died violently in Georgia duri ng
the week end, including four chil
dren who burned to death — three
in Atlanta. Traffic accidents
claimed 14 lives.
The Atlanta five victims, all Ne
groes, were identified by police as
Hiram Fortson, 4, Felton Fortson,
2, and Anthony Daniel, 1, sons of
Mrs. Flora Daniel of Atlanta.
Fire razed their home Sunday
night while their mother had gone
to a neighbor's house to get some
cupcakes for the children, she told
police.
The fourth fire victim, also a
child, Edward Brown of Dalton, was
trapped and died inside his burn
ing tarpaper playhouse, according
to Sheriff Donald McArthur.
Six separate head-on collisions
over the state, along with five other
wrecks of varying types, accounted
for Georgia’s week end traffic
death toll of 14, the state patrol
reported.
Three Atlantans in one family
died in a head on crash in Villa
Rica Saturday which also sent
three other members of the family
to the hospital.
4 Jailed in Trespass
Case at Albany, Ga.

charges in Albany Monday after an
unsuccessful attempt to intergrate
the lunch counter in an Albany
drug store.

$200 each.

property conveyed to Lewis Rustin
