Cultural Practices
Important in Growing
Plants from Nursery
When plants are bought at a
nursery be sure to learn about the
cultural practices needed to get
best growth from plants. The more
that is known about the plant the
better chance it has of surviving.
Not only is knowing the size, tex- Imore attractive
that require planting.
For any restricted areas it is
perhaps wiser to select slow grow
ing and dwarf types.
Buy plants from an established
dealer when possible. Local concerns
are aware of the problems and cul
tural practices associated with
growing adapted plant material and
are more readily available when
problems arise.
Plants can do a real job in pro
viding better living and building
- ii - - homes. Choose the
ture, color of bloom, growth rate, best plant for the particular job it
etc., important for cultural practices
but also for the use of the plant
in a landscape composition. Plants
have different characteristics and
some serve better for mass plant
ings and hedges while others have
enough good qualities to stand
alone as specimens.
Often the first question asked a
nurseryman is "How fast does it
grow?” This may be well when
buying screening plants but can be
serious handicap with plantings
peace with God can know “the
peace of God,” it does not follow, .means” (II Thes. 3:16).
