THE BUTLER HERALD, BUTLER, GEORGIA, MAY 31, 1962 BUTLER LOCALS Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Dean spent Saturday at Auburn. Mr. Frank Pickard of Macon was the recent guest of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Culverhouse. Mrs. Carey Middlebrooks of Ham ilton, will be the guest of Mrs. Bert Carson next week. Mrs. Bert Carson, who had been a patient at the local hospital for the past two weeks, returned home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Almgren and Michael attended the funeral of an uncle, Mr. Leonard Brooks, at Con yers, Monday. Mrs. Mattie Goodwin is a patient at the local hospital. Her numerous friends wish for Mrs. Goodwin an early and complete recovery. Mrs. E. B. Nelson of Ambrose, will return home Sunday after be ing at the bedside of her sister, Mrs. Bert Carson, for several days. Mrs. Nina Cox of Columbus is spending the week with her mother Mrs. W. E. Bone who is ill. Friends wish for Mrs. Bone a speedy recov ery. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Riley and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Riley and son of Pine Mountain Valley were Sun day visitors of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Riley. Mrs. Herman Amos left Tuesday for Brunswick to attend the gradu ation of a grandson, Henry Moore, who gets a diploma from grammar school. Mrs. Herman Amos and Mrs. Min- tie Pope will attend high school graduation at Carrollton Monday night to see Jimmy Pope receive his diploma. Sgt. and Mrs. Jimmy Shepherd, Columbus; Misses Corene and La- nora Cooper of Rupert, spent Sun day with Mrs. W. E. Bone and family. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ragan and son of Dawson, spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Riley and family at the Riley lake. The group spent the day picnicking and fish ing. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Payne and Mrs. Wilba Deen Tante were called to the bedside of Mrs. Lorena Jus tus last week. Mrs. Justus is on the critical list at the Ga. Baptist Hos pital, Atlanta. Mrs. Arnold Robinson of Newnan was admitted to the Newnan hos pital May 9th where she underwent an appendix operation. Mrs. Robin son is the former Miss Evelyn Wainwright of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Saunders and Mrs. Gussie Royeton of Reynolds; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Saunders of Huntsville, Ala; Mrs. Ruth Mathis and Miss Gussie Wilson of Thomas- ton were Sunday guests of Mr. Lewis Saunders. Mrs. Ollie Bazemore, Mrs. James Bazemore, Miss Charlotte Cosey, Mrs. C. Lester Peed and Mr. Roland Brooks toured the Citizens and Southern Bank at Albany, Thurs day. The group was entertained at a luncheon at Radium Springs. Mr. Lewis Saunders came home from the Macon hospital Friday after receiving treatment for double pneumonia. Mr. Saunders is re ported recovering satisfactorily and his many friends hope he may soon be restored to his usual good health. Pvt. William Callier, stationed in Ft. Gill, Okla., finished eight weeks of training at Ft. Chaffee, Ark. Callier was at home on 14 days’ leave before assuming duties at Ft. Gill. He is the son of Mrs. Sallie Callier and the late Frank Callier of Mauk. Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Jones, Sr., who have been in Cincinnati, Ohio, returned to their home in Howard after visiting their son, L. O. Jones, Jr,, and family. While there the Howard citizens accompanied their children on a trip to Ontario, Cana da and to Niagara Falls. Mr. Jones Jr. is a Mechanical Engineer from Auburn and is associated with a widely known Cincinnati business firm. Mrs. Bernard Wainwright honor ed her mother, Mrs. Annie Scar borough of Cochran with a birth day dinner at her home Sunday. Those attending included: Mr. and Mrs. Artomus Law, Mrs. Clinton Law and baby, Andersonville; Mr. John Hinton, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hinton, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gilbert Easley, S. C.; Mrs. Edwin Law and baby of Montezuma; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brown and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hubbard and Mrs. Lillian Smallwood and children of Macon; Karono Wainwright, Wanza Hinton and Bean Wilson of Thomaston; Mr. and Mrs. Junior Allen and chil dren and Joel Wainwright of But ler. Clifford Gee Tell Nuptial Plans (Mrs. Verna Griggs) Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Coleman Hinton announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa, to Wm. Clifford Gee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. M. Gee of Howard. The wed ding will be solemnized July 29, 3 p. m., at Taylor Mill Baptist church. Miss Hinton is a graduate of the Reynolds high school where she was a member of the Beta Club, FHA, Tri-Hi-Y, and co-captain of the cheer leaders. After graduation from B.T.I., she was employed by a widely known Macon business firm. The groom-elect is a graduate of Butler High school and attended business college. Reports were given on the recent tour of Dundee Mills and the Agri culture Experiment Station at Grif fin, which was attended by Mrs. Herschel Whitley, president, and Mrs. Gerson Waller, vice president and on the Family Night Supper which the Club sponsored May 5th. Plans were formulated for all members and their families to take tests for sugar diabetes as a Health Project sponsored by the Club. The monthly demonstration, given by Mrs. Cooper was on freezing foods, with special emphasis on foods to be prepared before freezing as they require little or no addition al sooking when served.
