BUSSEY CHILDS, SUPPORT INVITATION FOR BIDS Ordinary Taylor County CITATION FOR DISMISSION FROM GUARDIANSHIP Gunman Holds Up Macon Pharmacist Sunday Afternoon Macon, Ga. — A lone gunman Sunday robbed Chapman’s Phar macy, Macon, of over $1,000 in cash and an unknown amount of nar cotics. City detectives reported an in vestigation was underway to find a slender built whiteman who is be lieved to have committed the rob bery. The druggist, Guy Hays, reported the man came in the store at 2 o’clock p. m. carrying a shipping bag, walked to a rear counter and told Hays to go to the back. Hays said the robber had a pistol in his left hapd and then made Hays and Mrs. E. C. Simmons, a clerk who works in the front part of the store’s safe. He made Hays give him the keys to the safe’s drawers and spent about 15 minutes getting the mon ey and selecting certain narcotics that he wanted. The robber then put Hays and Mrs. Simmons in a rear room of the store and told him to wait there 15 minutes befor coming out. Bookmobile Traveled 9,134 Miles During Past Twelve Months The bookmobile has traveled 9,134 miles during the past year (July 1, 1961 to June 30, 1962). 2,636 miles of this has been traveled to and within Taylor County. The Bookmobile carries approxi mately 1800 books and has access to the collection of 38,252 books at the headquarters in the Manchester Library. The library also has 1,802 filmstrips, 229 recordings, 5,000 pamphlets and 110 current maga zine subscriptions. During June the Bookmobile staff has been busyserving the 583 children and 148 adults who met the bookmobile on its summer routes.' 7,082 books were circulated during the month. In Taylor county, 105 boys and girls joined the Vacation Reading Club on the Bookmobile, and others also joined at the Taylor County Library in Butler. The Library Committee of the Reynolds Woman’s Club sponsored a series of story hours at the Rey nolds Community Library. Mrs. $318 Is Taken From Police Athens, Ga. — Someone stole $318 from a cash drawer in the po lice department business office Monday. Police Chief E. E. Hardy said the theft occurred before the building was opened for the day. Susie Woods, chairman of Li brary committee, was assisted by Mrs. Lucybelle Fuller, Mrs. Fuller Mrs. Elmer J Carson, Mrs. Walter Forsling and Miss Sue O’Neal. The book circulation from the Bookmobile for the year was 84,730. The circulation in Taylor County was 14,902. Add ta this 14,377 books circulated from the Taylor County Library in Butler High School and 3,358 books circulated from the Reynolds Community Library. The average of books circulated throughout the county was four books per capita. Library service is given to the people in Taylor County thru 8 stops, 4 deposits, two libraries and two schools. MRS. PHILLIP MANN, Extension Librarian Zoning Starts for Lake Blackshear Cordele, Ga. — The Crisp County Power Commission has started ac tion to zone Lake Blackshear inso far as boating, swimming and ski ing are concerned. The lake zoning action follows an appeal by Bob Baker of the Dis trict Game and Fish Office along with local wildlife ranger Hubert Simpson, who told the group of the dangers involved in boats speeding too near swimmers.
