Band held their Festival .in TIou~.

house. Although the weather was
very nnpropitious, quite a large
crowd attended and money flowed
pretty freely.
The delightlul music of the. Mar.
sba’Iville and Fort Valley Bands
added a great dMl to the pleasure
of the evening. The Marshaltvllle
Band, though very young, and
thre 3 or four if its members small
hoys, plays remarkably Well, which
shows they have been learning rap
idly under the instruction of their
efficient and gentlemanly teacher,
Prof. Garreckt.
Our boys played well, as they al¬
ways. do, and we hope some day
t > see our Band rank with the first
of the State. The Festival was a
very fine success They made
about $>60 dollars clean. .Wo feel
vary proud of our Comet Band and
hope the people with always rally
to its support. - -

Miss'A liee Lowman,of our town,
is visiting her sister, Mbs. Edgar
Wynn, of Henry Co., is quite
ill
Miss Fannie Ethridge, of Perry,
was in our town last Monday.
Mrs. Shannon who has been vis¬
iting her cousins, Misses ' Iza and
Viola Jones, returned to her .home,
in Norwood last Friday.
Miss Sophie Jones, who has been
teaching in the family of Capt. Car
son,of Reynolds, returned last Mon¬
day. Her many friends are happy
to have her with them again
Dr. Flournoy, who has been
spending several months in Flori¬
da and Southern. Georgia on bnsi
ness, returned last week.
Terry Towns, pf Atlanta, was in
our village last week.
Mr, Jos, Dasher and wife return
ed from Florida yesterday, very
much delighted with then-trip. Mr.

farmers come in and organize a

Our Cornet Band has learned to

which is quite a lively and popular
air.

Our town is alive with* colored
ministers and delegates who have
come to attend their annual con
forence. Sunday will be a big
day with our colored friends.
