I have been asked the question: “Does
friction increase with speed, or de
crease!”’ Both. Where the speed is
slow, increasing it may decrease the
friction per turn; but where the speed is
fast, it may be found that increasing
speed increase! the friction per turn also.

ia doubtful. Women rarely become bald;
yet they never cut their hair aa do men.
May not their immunity from a shining
Sate be partly due to the fact that they
o not patronize the barber, nor wear
tight head-gear? If in early life our
young men would look after their scalps,
even while they do not appear to need
attention, it might save them the trouble
of looking after them in sorrow at a
Inter period, when it will not do much
good. If they do not, the time will
come when wo shall have a race of human
beings without hair.
The first storm ever followed day by

it proceeded through the Northern
Sta'es and Cannda to Labrador and

and on November 1, in the i’altic, it
quietly disappeared, after accomplishing

The subjoined metrical version of the

music in public worship:

The question has probably been inked thousands

for which a reputable physician would prescribe IRON
Physicians recognize Iron as the bost restorative

that there are more preparations of iron than of any

important factor in successful medical practice. It is,
however. a remarkable fact, that prior to the discov

How A Farmer’s Life Was Saved, j
Hon. S. C. Huntington, Ex-Connty
Judge; Hon. N. B. Smith, District
Attorney, and Sworn Statement of
Others. All of Pulaski, Oswego Cos.,
N. V.
Boven years ago my struggle for life began
with a burning inflammation, (almost ns much
to be dreaded as fire). At first attacking mo
with pain and aching In the back. The least
cold or over work would aggravate my troub
les. My stomach and liver becamo deranged,
tonguo coated, appetite poor, nerves unstrung
and my sleep troubled. I mado a desperate
effort to keep about, but In spite of all ray reso
lutions and tho help of physicians, found my
self growing worse month by month, and my
onco powerful constitution completely break
ingdown. I suffered from chronic Inflammation
of the kidneys, rheumatism and catarrh of the
bladder. Blood would rush to my head, I would
feel faint and weak, and found it difficult to
breathe at times as my heart would throb and
skip beats. In the spring of 1880 still more
critical symptoms set in. My terrible agony
no one oould toll. My weight was reduced
nearly seventy pounds. A sense of soreness
and rawnoss was followed by attacks of inward
fever, ffa H. Filkin’s affidavit Is herewith
given:
I often saw the urine passed by David Trum
bull. It looked terrible, as though it was Ills
very life's blood.
(Signed) WM. H. FIBRINS,
Sworn to before me I J. W. FENTON—Jus
this Bth day of Not., ties, Pulaski, Oswego
1883. I Cos., N. Y.
At times my back and limbs were so weak,
I could liardiy stand or walk. The oftener the
effort to void urine, the more frequent the call
and severer tho distress.
On November 21st, 1881, I began taking
Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Boot Kidney, Liver
and Bladder Cure, and applying his U & 0
Anointment. To-day lam 02 years old, and
I am enjoying excellent health. lam freo
from pains in my back and kidneys, can sleep
well nights, have an excellent appetite and
Indeed I am enjoying lifo os well as I did
eight years ago.
. Dear Doctor, imagine you saw ms last hay
ing time working in tho fields sweating to
carry along 2501b5. (Which is my present
weight—good llcsh and solid), and this too
after not being able to get up from my bed
without help by spells for more than a year.
Now I can jump os quick os a boy. It seems
so much liko a miracle. I can not find suitable
language to express my thanks. I am in
receipt of letters almost every week, an!
sometimes twice a week, asking me about my
lint testimony published in Dr. Kilmer's
Invalids' Guide to Health, inquiring if it was
true that “I wascured after suffering so much.’’
Now I repeat tho testimony with sworn proof
and if this will bo the means of inducing some
other sufferer to tryyourinvaluablo Remedies
it will pay mo a hundred fold. I am interviewed
almost every day and I hear of a great
many who havo tried your Kemedies and
speak of them in great praise.
This testimony is true as to my recovery
but as to my suffering tbe one-half has not
been told.
