The Auger is operated by either hand or
horse power, three men being required when
the former is used. We can bore to any
depth, and as large a thirty-six inches in di
ameter. As soon as the well is bored we tube
it from top to bottom with good inch lumber,
ripped in strips three inches wine, and of the
proper beveled edges to suit the inside of the
well. The tubing nearest the surface will
last fifteen or twenty years, and then you can
pull it out and put in anew joint. That be
low the water will last for ages. The wood
causes the water to taste of it only a week or
so. Either pumps or buckets can be used in
our wells. The bucket fills from a valve in
the bottom. At the bottom of each well is
kept a galvanized iron bucket, left there for
the purpose of cleaning out the well, which
can be drawn out at any time, and your well
thoroughly cleansed of the most minute parti
cle of trash or garbage that should chance to
fall into it. The old-fashioned dug wells cost
from $5 to $lO per year to be kept clean—our
bored wells costs nothing. "We bore through
quicksand easily, and guarantee it to never
after annoy you.
ONE DOLLAR PER FOOT
is my price for boring, and tubing with wood,
and we can generally

f Knitting Made!
INGENIOUS AND SIMPLE.
TIIE PERFECTION OF MECHANISM.
(Made under the Leech Patents.)
After a large expenditure of time and mon
ey in experimenting on the Knitting Machine,
we have been enabled to make a simple prac
tical machine, specially adapted to familv use
on account of its simplicity and the great
range of work it will accomplish. It is more
simple than a sewing machine, and anv person
ordinarily skillful will learn its use with onlv
the assistence of tlfe "Instruction Book,’’
which accompanies each machine. Its sim
plicity, together with its capacity for doing
the great range of work, makes it a matter of
economy for every family to have one, and
will ultimately bring it in general use, as in
the case with the Sewing Machine. The ma
chine will knit—in cotton, wool, silk or linen
—socks, stockings, leggins, mittens, wristers,
scarfs, afghans, blankets, &c., Ac. In fact,
the capacity of the machine for making gar
ments is only limited by the ingenuity of the
operator.
Jxo. G. Wells, the well-known publisher
of “ Every Man His Own Lawyer," writes :
“To Messrs. Jeremy AFollett, manufac
turers of the * Grange’ Knitting Machine.
“ Gents :—lf * brevity is the soul of wit;’ so
is simplicity in machinery the soul of merit.
Ihe ‘ Grange’ Knitting Machine pleases me.
Others are ingeniously constructed, but too
complicated for inexperienced hands—too li
able to get out of order. A child can work
the * Grange,’ and there is seemingly nothing
to get out of order. Believing that to lesson
labor adds to the wealth of a people—and to
human happiness—l most heartily endorse
and recommend your invaluable household
convenience.
