sake of vital religion, that these

origiuals. If they are, then why Brother
Moody wasn’t long ago hanged upon a

Congress. —This body will meet next
Monday, the day fixed by law—the same
being the first Monday ill December.
Our Georgia delegates have all gone on
to Washington.
A careful analysis of the new Congress
shows that the Senate will consist of 43
Republicans, 28 Democrats and 2 Inde
pendents, besides the contested seat from
Louisiana—total, 74. The whole num
ber of Representatives 275, of which 174
are Democrats, 107 Republicans; lb Inde
pendents, and one to oo elected from the
fatal 4th Congressional District of Ten
nessee,

L. D. Ford, by 683 majority. This vote
clears Mr. Estes of the disgraceful char

—The crib of Mr. J. C. Cook, of Colum
bus, with it3 contents, was destroyed by
fire the night of November 25th. A
month ago Mr. Cook lost bis gin-house
and four bales of cotton by fire.
—The Gbaud Jury of Wilkes county,
at a late session of the Superior Court, re
commended, in their presentments, the
call of a convention to frame a constitu
tion by and under the authority of the
people of Georgia.
—Gov. Smith has respited Brinkley,
tho Nevrnan wife murderer, for one week,
in order to have a motion for anew trial
argued by his counsel, who claim to have
discovered new and important evidence
in Rriakley ; favor.
—Dr. Joseph Thompson, of Atlanta, is
said to have a knife which he has carried
in his pocket every day since 1821. Of
course, it is the most worthless knife that
was ever made, or ho would have lost it
at least fifty years ago.
—A small, girl in Macon cut her finger,
a few days ago, and her fond mother
ordered John to run quickly t > a certain
street and bring a doctor. “If one ain’t
in,” were tho orders, “ leave word and go
to the next.” John obeyed orders, and
fifty-one doctors called in tho course of
on hour.
—Col. Jack Jones is no longer State
Treasurer—having failed to obtained ad
ditional security within tho ten days al
lowed by the law, and tho office is now
vacant. It is said the Governor will ap
point anew Treasurer within a few days,
to serve until one can be elected by the
Legislature.
—Brinkley, the wife murderer, has been
respited for one week. He was to have
been hung Fiiday, the 26th. His coun
sel, Hon. B. ii. Hill, claims to have dis
covered new and important evidence in
his behalf ami has made a motion for a
new trial. If that is denied t o ease will
go to the Supreme Court.

coat that he had stolen from his store a
few minutes prey lously. Instead of turn
ing him over to an officer of the law to be
dealt with, he either forced the negro to
pay $lO for the coat that was worth but
$2.50 or took the coat back and made the
negro givo him the forty dollars for no
consideration except as a bride to pre
vent him from being prosecuted.
—The Buena Yista Argus says “ a sin
gular case of somnambulism occurred in
this town on Friday nigixt. Little Bobbie
Wallis, the grandson of Mr. Bunsd Wal
lis, Sr., retired for the night feeling a
little feverish. Daring his sleep he
dreamed that someone was after him with
a sharp stick. He got up and tied from
the house in his night clothes, and shaped
his course directly to the swamp. He ran
far into the swamp, scratching himself
with briars and wading th: u-_v .-water
and getting completely wet, before he
awoke. Asa matter of course, he was
veiy much bewildered, and wandered
about for sometime before he found the
road and reached home.”

J. Waller, the executor upon the estate of B.
B. Waller, deceased, to execute to him titles
to said tract or parcel of Land, in conformity
with said Bonds:

tions, (if any they have in my office within the

should not be ordered to execute Titles to said
