—At Dalton Saturday night an at¬
tempt was made to lynch the sit yer of Senator

—More fertilizer was analyzed last
year than ever before in a single year in Geor¬
gia. The amount is 211,807 tons. This shows
that, contrary to expectation, it was the big¬
gest fertilizer year in the history of the State.
—An application will be made to the
Legislature for a charter for the Franklin,
Jonesboro and Covington railroad. This will
be a Very important line, as it will connect
Covington with four or five lines of railroad
running into Atlanta.
—At the office of the Secretary of
State Tuesday a charter under the general
law was granted to the YVadley and Mt. Ver¬
non railroad. The proposed road will he fifty
miles long and will run from Wadley, in Jef¬
ferson county, through the counties of John¬
son and Fnnnnnel to Mt. Vernon, in Montgom¬
ery county. The capital stock is fixed at
$200,000.
—State Treasurer Hardeman, who is
a member of the capital furnishing commis¬
sion, has received from the Robert Mitchell
Furniture Company, of Cincinnati, two very
handsome gavels, as a present for the presi.
