THE CRANGEKS’ SEBEJADE.
(
Oh, come, my love, and live with me,
And Uiep my cottage in the glut)
As patient as a bumble-bee,
And busy us a setting-hen,
1
1 Oil, rest beneath my fragrant b aver,
' Whore sweet stramonium doth entwine;
Come, smell the gentle cauliflower
And cull (lie mangel-wurtinl vino.
Ah, listen to (lie rural songs;
!Tho pea shall wind his magic spell,
As Echo plaintively prolongs
The warble of the pimpernel,
Beyond tho vermicelli row
1 hear the hull-frog’s sigh again,
The cackle of the Durham ewe,
The bellow of the Berkshire ben.
Oil, come, love, come! the morn is fair;
I’ll celebrate the day with thee,
I’ll merrily dig the Bartlett pear,
And shake the r utabaga tree.
Oil, bump yourself, my lovely Toll,
And in the cause of Anti-monop,
\Vc' 11 mulch the turkeys in the fall
And graft the long clam on the hop.
My sweetest, 1 am fond of mush,
And thou wilt set some out for me;
We’ll early sow the currant bush
And tap the cranberry jelly tree.
We'll pull the wool from off the calf,
The cottonwood its fleece shall sued,
So at the winter will we laugh
And gaily weed the oyster lied
We’U blithely hoe the winter wheat,
We’ll chase the eggs the squirrels lay,
And when the bantam hog shall bleat
We’ll feed him with Mac clover hay.
Ail savory game to tlree I’ll bring;
The burdock knows my spear is, sharp;
I’ll shoot the dolphin on liiu wing
And hit him in the pericarp.
Then come, my love, and live with me,
And beautify my lonely den,
As patient as a bumble-lioe
And busy as a setting-lion.

Can tho Hoopla overoom > the oo

, power, and succeed in placing Tildon
and Hendricks in tho offices of Presi
dent and Vice President of the United
States? The first answer to tlfis in
quiry comes from every ton .quo in the
words, “If wo cannot elect Tildon
and Hendricks we cannot elect any
body.’’ More than once before tho
meeting of the Si. Louis I'onveniion
we had occasion to say that wo did
not know that the Dctnoetats o it’d
elect TilJcn, but wo were confident
that if they could elect anybody they
could elect him. Our intercourse at
St. Louis with people from different
sections has led us to the conclusion
that Tildon not only can be but will
bo elected.
Take the State of Wisconsin, with
its teat electoral voles. Nobody in
this section ever dreamed that the
Democrats of that State entertained
any hopes, of giving its electoral vote
to the candidate of their party. Yet
the delegates from Wisconsin de
clared with almost one voice that if
Ti.den were nominated he would cer
tn n!\ carry that State. 2 hoy did
not mto have a doubt r.p.-n ihe

almost half the voters were Germans
earnestly in favor of reform and hard
money.
Take Massaolmsetts, Tt is a State

will go lor them. Yet Massachu

Suit!hern States named—they can be
carried in no other way —and Tiiden
will lmve 204 electoral votes. Thus,
if Grant allows ilio Southern States
to vote as they please, they will vote
for Tiiden, and he will be elected;
whilst if, ou the contrary, Grant com
pels the four States named, to cast
their votes to Hayes, Tiiden will be
elected by perhaps a still larger ma
jority than he will ret ivi if Grant
shall let the Southern people vote as
til- y desire to do.
