Ordinances for the Town of
Hamilton, Go.
Section 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor
aud Uouncilmbn of tho town of li.iaiil
ton
That tho Clerk shall, in a well bound
book to be kept for that purpose, record
tho proceedings of each meeting of the
Council, issue nil licenses for -retail gro
ceries, billiard tables, shows, circuses me
nageries, slight of hand shows, etc., and
receivo the money for tho same and pay l
over to the 'Treasurer, taking his receipt
for tho same.
Sec. 2. Bo it farther ordained,'oto.,That
tho Treasurer shall receive at) monies
from tho haml3 of the Clerk nnd Marshal,
: and pay them out on the order of the
Mayor, after tho same shall tmve been ap
propriated by the council. Ue shall make
semi-aunnul reports showing tho eondition
of Treasury, his receipts, disbursements,
etc.
Seo. 3. That it shall be the duty of tho
Marshal to arrest and bring before tho
Mayor ull offenders of the laws of tho
State or ordinances of the town of Ham
ilton, commit them to prison when re
quired by the Mayor; execute all war
rants issued by tho Mayor; setvo ail sum
mouses and subpenas for witnesses, sup
press riots and rows; preserve the peace
and exercise a vigilant supervision gener
ally in said town; and he shall perform
snoh other duties as may be required of
him by Mayor and Couuoil. And that he
shall be removed from office by the May

Seo. 4. That when the Mayor shall have
knowledge that an offense has boon com
mitted in said town against the laws of
the state, be shall issue a warrant as the

Seo. 6 That every proprietor or owner
of a billiard or pool table on which bil

num; also every owner or proprietor of a
retail liquor grocery in said town shalj
procure a license from the Clerk, provid
ed the Council shall authorize the same
to be granted for which he shall pay two
hundred and dfty dollars per annum.
Such licenses shall not be transferable
without the consent of the Council; nor
shall any person retail a', more than one
place under .hesame license.
Sec‘ 7. Every circus or menagerie, be
fore exhibiting in said town, shall pro
cure a license from iho Clerk, for which
the proprietor shall pay tweniy-tive dal

show performances or exnibitions for

Sec. 8. That all persons vending malt or
fermented liquors by retail shall drst pro

or vender of malt or fermented liquors, or
tho proprietor of any circus, menagerie,
or other show for which a tax is required)

Seo. 16. That if any person shall fasten

or paling, or shall rule or drive on the

Seo. 17. That if auy person shall resist

Seo. 20. That it shall be the duty of the
M arshal of said town to summon all per
sons residing in the ooiporate limits of
said town liable to road duty by the laws
of this State to work on the streets, roads
and sidewalks of said town one day betore
each working. Any person liable to said
duty who shall fail to work when so noti
fies shall be fined not less than one nor
more than three dollars per day, or im
prisoned for-any time not longer than ten
days, provided that auy person liable to
said duty may pay a commutation iu lieu
of such duty the sum of five dollars per
annum in advance.
Seo. 21. That any person who shall bo
fined by the Mayor for violation of any
ordinance of siid town who shall fail to
pay said fine promptly, shall be imprisoa
