This will certify that I planted about twelve
acres of Mr. Die*on*s Pomegranate Cotton this
year, from which 1 shall gather nearly two thou
sand pounds seed Cotton per acre, and would have
gathered over that amonnt but for the injury re
ceived by rains and the worm. The cotton waa
planted one month later tlian my other cetton. I
pronounce it a superior cotton, producing about
one-third more than our common cotton.

1 have planted Mr. Dickson’s Pomegranate cot
ton the last two years. It matures earlier than
ar.v cotton 1 ever planted. I am satisfied it
will produce about one-third more than the com
mon cotton on the same soil. D. E. Strong.

1 plant colton ia v* ayne county, Kentucky, for
spinning use only. I was at this place last winter,
and was induced to take home a few of Mr. Dick
eon’s Pomegranate Cotton seed. I planted them
tide by side with my other cotton, the land the
same, and tended alike; the Pomegranate pro
duced fully one-third the most, and made over one
thousand pounds seed cotton per acre. My spin
ners say the lint is superior to any cotton they ever
spun. Canon VVcrsham.

With some differ cnee in creeds and profession*,
the two great National parties agree is one lead

which are gathered mainly front tjic South and

not belong to either of them.
Believing the General Government to he corrupt
in all its parts, -holding that il belongs to, and is
and will he administered for the benefit ol the

power and resources of the South arc wielded to

two section* is productive ol evil to the South, vve
shall advocate its dissolution.
As to Stale politics, it there be any party which
has any, we arv ignorant of it. So entirely i
everything absorbed, in the effort to sustain a ria

lest the party may be thereby injured; as if the
invasion, of the rights ol a citiscn, by Stale legis

against, as the exercise of an undelegated power
by Con

as State politics, we shall find much to discuss—
ford here is much tint is wrong somewhere.
We bo Ml th tt we have the best Government on
earth, and that we live in the full blaze ofthe light
of Christianity, yet we have daily, the complaint,
that over all the land, crime and degradation,
and misery are increasing, with appalling rapid

Christianity or of a good and wise government.
We shall consider all things connected with the
rights and inte rest of the people, proper subjects
for discussion; our object will be to aim at the truth;
and when in our opinion, we shall have found it,
