From the Federal Union,
Millard Fillmore's Administration Con
don'd ly the Toombs party. — The reader
will lock in vain among the Resolutions
of the Toombs Convention for one word
of praise bestowed on Millard Fillmore or
his Administration. Think of this, Whigs
Georgia! Mr. Toombs has assumed the
authority not only to withhold from Mil
lard Fillmore the meed of praise you
have ever honored him with, hut has
published a Resolution condemning hb
Administration, if not in so many words,
not the less pointedly. Here is the Res
elution:
“Resolved, That in the opinion of this
Convention, both the Whig and Demo
cratic parties of the United States have
been faithless to their oft repealed pledges
of economy in the expenditure of the pub
lic money, and that we view with great
ahum and disapprobation the partial, un
equal and unjust appropriation of the
public Lnds internal improvements in
particular States, and of a local charac
ter; and of the public money to wild,
tcckless and gigantic schemes of internal
improvement; in'ended for the promotion
“f particular interests rather than the
general benefit of those who bear the
burthen of Taxation.”
The Austin, Texas, Southwestern Amiri
ran. speaking of the departure of General
Clarke, ex-Gov. Paine and company for
Fort Graham, on their Pacific railroad
exploring tour, a-.iys:
“Up to this city, the gentlemen ex
pressed themselves well pleased with Tex
as—saw few obstacles to overcome in the
erection of a road in the general features
of the country. They are reported to have
expressed doubts of the practicability of
bridging the Brazos at any point they had
s. i, or could hear of, below the Hidalgo!
fall'-, afew miles above Washington.”
Altered Bank Bills —We were told j
yesterday that one dollar bills of the j
15 ink of Savannah altered to fives, were ;
in circulation in th‘s city. The alteration i
is so neatly done, that one was passed to [
the teller of one of our banks without etc* j
teetion. The genuine fives, have at the i
left haul a female figure standing upon a j
pc lestal, an l just under her feet the word j
“FIVF.” Over the head of the same fig- j
ure is aV. On the top of the bill near !
the centre are two female figures. One is
seated upon a cotton bale, and the other
has just stooped and picked up a boll of
cotton, which she is holding in her hand.
The one dollar bills have at the top a
cut of a steamship under way, with sails
ail set, and a bust of a lady on the right
hand, surmounted by a figure One.— Sav.

Cure of a Diseased Ancle of long stand
ing by I follow ay's Ointment and Fills. —
The wife of Mr. Bachelor, a carpenter,
residing for 20 years past at Hampstead,
had been laid up for a considerable time
wi ll a diseased ancle, the pain often most
maddening; by bad treatment humours
settled in her head and other parts, caus
ing incessant and distracting headaches,
which hud such an elfeet upon her health
that there was every symptom of her con
stitution rapidly breaking up. She had
recourse to numerous medical men with
out obtaining the least benefit, but, not-!
withstanding, Holloway’s Ointment and j
Pills cured her, and made her as well as ;
ever she was in her life.-
