Florida Indians.
The ncksonville News of the sth inst.
says, that C ptain Casey had arrived at
Tampa, w ith authority from the govern
ment to offer the Indians larger stuns in
money than were offered by Gen. Blake,
ns an inducement for them to emigrate.—
The plan, it was thought, would prove
suecessfnl, as a report was in circulation
that the Indians, were congregating in
high glee at Pease Creek, expressing their
willingness to leave on the terms now
offered. We fear this news is too good
to be true.

TO GIVE a still to the Re
publican, nnd thereby to bring Savannah
and its business more prominently before the coun
try, the Proprietors offer their Daily paper at
$5,00 a year, and their Tri- Weekly at $3,00, to
all new subscribers who pay in advance. To
their present suhscrihcrs who do not choose to
pay in advance, the paper will be furnished at the
reduced rales on and after the first of Janoarr,
and those whmtjave paid in advance yvill be cred
ited f t
We propose'also to issuc a Weekly paper, com
mericing early‘tn ,November, at $2,00 n year, to
be paid Tor invariably in advarce. To clubs of
ten, the Weekly, will be furnished at $15,00.
We make this reduction in tlve price ol the Re
publican for yiree reasons: First, because we
desire to scatter the paperovertbts and the adjoin
ing States, in order, as far as we are able, to ex
tend the relations and increase the business of
Savannah, believing that whatever promotes the
prosperity of the city cannot fail to exert a bem fi
cial efli ci upon our own fortunes. Tlie great fa
cilities we possess for distributing daily, tri w< ek
ly, and weekly intelligence, by our railroad con
nections and steamboat lines, encourage us to be
lieve that the undertaking will be, because it
ought to be. successful.
Secondly, because other papers Ihriiughout the
country are reducing their rates of sub-eription,
and we would place our readers upon a fooling as
favorable as that ciyoyod by the read :rs of those
papers.
Thirdly, because we shall never be more able
to make the teduct ion than at present. Wc would
not boast of our success, yet we beg leave to say
(hat the support which our patrons have accorded
us up to this time, enables us to make this reduc
tion, and thus to offer some sight acknowledg
ment for their past favors. Wc hope they will
see in this fact reason for a continuance ot their
pationage, and for such efforts as they may find
it convenient to make in procuring us additional
subscribers. The step we have resolved upou
must result inloss, without a large accession to
our subscription list.
The growing importance of Savannah, as a
commercial centre, to tlie Planter, the Merchunt,
and indeed to all classes, at least in this Stall,
renders it unnecessary for us to offer any argu
ment why they should.avail themselves ofthe
means thus offered, for obtaining the latest qnd
most reliable iidelligchWfrotn ail quarters, uOtli
by telegraph and the mails.
Remittances by m,ill may be made at onr risk.
