The bill for the removal of t!ic State
House, as passed in the Senate, has been
Concurred in, in the House.
The bill consolidatin'? the Macon and
Western and Centra! Railroad Companies,
*o that they should constitute but one
* ompnny, was under discussion at the
time ot cur last letter. ‘1 he amendment
of Mr Hardeman, of Bibb, requiring tlic
von soil tun ted company to have a fixed ta
riff of rates for every fifty miles, and deny
ing to them the right of increasing them
above the present rates, had been voted
down in the Hou.-c. ‘I he subject was re
sumed on Friday afternoon. The bill
nssed the House by a very decided vote.
On Wednesday it was taken up in the Se
nate, and occupied nearly the entire day.
ihe bill was laid upon the table, after a
long and interesting discussion, bv a vote
of 4 1 to 31
Those who have taken an interest in the
Legislative proceedings, cannot have fail
ed to notice the large amount of time,
‘” Inch has been occupied by the House in
discussing tax bil s. Almost every c n
oeivable mode of taxation, with the ex
ccption of an income tax, lias been submit
ted to the House, discussed and voted
down In view of these facts, the re-a
doption of the ad valorem system may lie
regarded ns a great triumph. On Satur
day attorn aon, a bill re-enacting the pre
sent law, and the supplemental act, \as
voted down in the House. On Monday it
was reconsidered, and passed. On Wed
nesday afternoon, it was again voted down
in the Senate, again on Thursday morning
reconsidered and passed. The vote stood
yeas 3d, nays 36. The President gave the
casting vote in the affirmative The bill
proposes, in its body, to raise $403,000 for
the support of the Government, makes a
slight change in the oath, aid changes the
time of giving in to the first of April.—
These changes, though slight, are calcula
ted to remedy the complaints which have
been made against the law.
Mr. Cochran's resolutions on the Ne
braska bill, wore adopted this morning in
the Senate, by a vote of 58 to 5.

A bill authorizing the Governor to is
sue State bonds to the amount of $375,-
000, in lieu of Central Bank bonds.--
Passed.
A bill incorpora tin: the Griffin and
Mont.ccllo Railroad Company —Passed.
A bill repealing .an act relative to rc
ccrdi.'.g vouchers —host.
A bill authorizing the teachers of poor
children to furnish them with books in
certain comities.--Passed.
A bill abolishing imprisonment for
debt —Passed.
A bill incorporating the Columbus and
Hamilton Railroad Company —Passed.
A bill appropriating $5,000 to the
Southern Botanieo Medical College at.
