An Ordinance to provide for the repair of wharf lots and the erection of suitable pavements in the City of Darien. Sec. 1. Be it further ordained that in addition to the penalties prescribed in the proceeding sec tion upon the failure or refusal of any wharf own er or owners to put his or their wharf or wharves in good order, or on like failure or refusal of the owner or owners of any improved lot or lots to construct aud keep in repair suitable pavements in fronts ofsuch lot or lots of the character here tofore provded for, it shall be the duty of the marshall to give thirty days notice in writing, to all such diligent wharf or lot owners, requiring him or them to put in repair their wharf or wharves or to pave in front of his or their im proved lot or lots which notice shall he served personally, hut it such service shall be impossible bynasou of uou-resideuce of the person or per sons to whom the same is directed, then it shall he his duty to publish said notice for thirty days, I in the newspaper in which the city advertising, is done aud after the expiration of said notice it sha 11 he the duty of the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, as "nayor of said city,, to require the Marshall thereof to enter upon and put in order or pave and put in repair the proper ty of such delinquent wharf or lot owner in the manner heretofore prescribed at his or their ex pense, and in the name and behalf of the citv au thorities of Darien, to bring an action at law against the owner or owners of the property so repaired as aforesaid. Sec. 5. All ordinances, or parts of ordinane conflicting with this hereby repealed. Darien, Georgia, April 10th 1 Quarantine Proclamation. CITY OF DARIEN. March 24th 1880. rpo THE DOBOY ANDSAPELO PILOTS, CAP- I tains of vessels, and steam tow-boats—On and after the ist ot April aud until the Ist of November, 1880, all vessels both foreign and coastwise, ar riving at this port must he inspected before land ing freight or passengers or proceeding to their loading births and pilots will dispose of them as follows: Vessels having no sickness on hoard.no burials on the passage, will be anchored as near the yellow flag opposite the quarantine official sta tion as may he safe and convenient. The Pilot will notifiy the officer who will hoard and inspect her. Captains of vessels coming in without a pilot will report to the officer immediatly on his arri val: ibis ordei applies to all vessels, both foreign and coastwise, except the following ports, (always suspected), Havana aud all ports and hays of the West Indies and South American ports or bays and rivers, such vessels must be taken to the up per quarantine; one mile up Carnochran river from the inner bouy in sale anchorage near the southern shoals to be cleansed,fumigated and dis infected before proceeding. 7he vessel will delay but a few days. Pilots are cautioned against ves sels reporting themselves from a neighboring port where they have only touched, but were last from au infected port. Any vessel from any port infected or otherwise,as she might have communi cated at sea having fever on hoard, must proceed at once to the Cae.pian or lower qurantine under the lead oi the pilot boat, and the pilot will report the same to the quarantine, L’ohoy station officer. The Port Physician will regularly enforce our quarantine rules and will promptly report all viola tions. IENGTH OF BRIDGE ACROSS CAP-SILLS TO J 80 feet, foot of bridge to be two feet abovo high spring tide mark: centre of bridge to be three feet above high spring tide mark with a gradual rise from earn foot; bridge to have five (5) spans of equal’leugth; all the frame'oi bridge to be of the beet heart cypress, namely, piles 10x10 inches,cap sills 10x10 inches and 21 feet long, stringers oxlo inches and to extend three feet beyond the cap sills of the abutment; braces to be 4xo inches; banisters, banister posts and braces to be 4x5 in ches; abutment on Mclntosh county side to be made of good yellow pine (not yellow slash pine); wiugs 10 feet long and lihclO inches square; floor ing to be 10, feet long, 2 inches thick and of the very best heart pine. All the timlier to be used in building the South Newport bridge must be of the best material and after it has been hauled to the place designated, the County Commissioners of Liberty and Mclntosh counties are to be notified as to inspect the timber before it is framed. The bulk-heads to the bridge must be properly filled up to a level with the foot of the bridge and con nected with the causeway. The Commissioners will meet at South Newport, on the 6th day of July, to receive and examine all bids for the build ing of said bridge, they reserve the right to reject an* and all bids.
