'Che Southern Commercial Convention met
ut Knoxville on Monday Inst. Wo refer our
readers to the article in this column, for all
the intelligence we have received of the action
of the Convention. There are no telegraph
lines leading from Knoxville, and hence the
delay in obtaining news from that point.
The Election in Kentucky.

the Convention was effected.

Resolutions were subsequently adopted, urg
ing the United States Government to with
draw their squadron from the coast of Africa:
recommending the erection of suitable fortifi
cations in the harbors of Port Royal, on the
coast of South Carolina, and also in Mobile
Bay.
Other resolutions were ollered for the con
sideration ami action of the Convention lint
were referred to the Committee on Business.
Among the resolutions were those endorsing
Mr. A. Dudley Mann’s project for establishing
a line ot meant ferry boats from the Chesa
peake Ray to Milford Haven-resolutions re
commending Government patronage to iin . 0 f
Southern steamers, the repeal of fishery Bonn,
ties, &c„ Arc.
