The following original letter was handed to us
for publication; a remedy which cau elicit such
encomiums, must be a good one;
GalvkstoX, Trxas. April 26, 1856,
Db. O. O. Woodman, New Orleans;
My Dear Sir•—In justice to you and a duty
1 owe to a suffering, ond, I may Bay, a world ol
coughing people, 1 stete what your invaluable
Cough Remedy—your CHERRY EXPEC
TORANT—has done for me, when all other
remedies have failed to give anv relief. In the
fall of 1817, living in 8t. Louis, where I have
tesided most of the lime lor the last sixteen
years, I took a severe cold, which settled on my
lungs, and was confined to my bed, and dosed
and b/istered by doctor* for several weeks, but
finally got on my legs again, but not cured of
my hard coughing, and rattling ond tickling iu
iny throat, which continued t. st ajantly foi
more than six months, always tho "orstm the
winter. My friends insisted I hud coughed
enough to ki.l a dozen comtnen mon, and that
l must be in the last stage of consumption. 1
made up my mind that 1 must cough my life
away. I left St. Louis in Disc -itbus last, to
travel and spend the winter in ‘he Bouth.—
j WhetijI called at your store in v fokaburg, you
| will recollect, 1 was coughing so hard 1 could
not make my business known. You said you
would cure mv cough, As you gave me a but
tle of your CHERRY EXPECTORANT, I
thought I would not slight you and your medi
cine so much as not to trv it; and ir, thankful
ness shall I ever remember the dsy I did so. In
but a few days, it began to allay and diminish
my cough and tickling in my throat, and be-
f >re I had used more than three fourths of the
conteuts of that bottle, 1 was entirely cured, anJ
for weeks 1 did not cveu raise a co jgu, ihougl
exposed day and night, in all weathers, in tra
veling. However, in March, while traveling in
North Carolina, I took a severe cold, and my
coughing commenced again, und else the tick
ling in my throat, at intervals; a.t.4 before my
arriving in New Orleans, on the 1 tth inst., on
some night, my coughing tvc-uld commence
and continue lor an hour or .v.\ 1 soon pro
cured another bottle from you, and in less than
two days 1 Was entirely relieved again. I am
now determined to -always keep a bottle oa
hsnd, and in the commencing of u cough, a ve
ry few small doses will relieve it entirely. I
nin now fully satisfied it is the bkbt COUGH
REMEDY now known to the world; and it is a
duty you owe to the coughing arid afflicted
part of the human family, to pui bo valuable a
remedy within the reach of all. 't3 oraises will
soon be upon the tonguesef ton.' - th usands ol
ovful and coughlcss, happy soul-o So great a
remedy 9b your Expectorant should be brought
before the public.
