Notice to Planters.
AS requested by citizens of Early and
Miller counties, the time for delivering
Tithiugs is extended to sixty days from Ist
May. to allow them to correspond with Com
missioner Allen, if desired/ as to five-fold
forfeiture in certain cases.
2. Being officially informed that certain
parties bona fide sold their Tithing Corn and
Fodder under my “ 15 mile order,” I am
permitted to take Meat, from all who will so
make it appear, at the late of two pounds for
a bushel of corn, or one lAindred pounds of
fodder.
3.* Upon my application for permission to
exchange corn for meat, generally for all
people in the District over 12 miles from De
pots, the following ord -r was given :

themselves to become absorbed in the “ Spec
ulating Mania,” which has lor the past year
taken‘possession of those whose only aim
seems to have been to make money out of the
necessities of others, and by the eircumstancos
of the Revolution. As soon as this “ Roll of
Honor ” shall bo properly prepared it will bo
published and circulated through she Army
and State for the “Benefit of Posterity,” and
at his own expense. Ho would earnestly re
quest all and any persons or person who will
aid him in each county, village, town ami
city, to send to him at Madison, Ga., a b‘'t
giving the names of the Speculator or Ext r
tioner in full, in what they have specuhiteu,
and whether they arc Jews or Gentiles. Yan
kees or native born Georgians. A special
report of Government Officials, whether < Vtu
lmssaries, Quartermasters, Purchasing Agt'a
or Contractors, is also Tequired, and then
mount and kind of property they had before
the war and have accumulated since. Tho
information asked for in this advertisement
is very desirable for many important pur

drews, on two different occasions, the amount
due him by J. R. Powell, Into of Early coun
ty, Ga.. deceased, being three certain prom
issory Notes, each one of which calls for five
hundred dollars: Said notes were given in
December, 1861, and made payable as fol
lows : One in one year, ore in two years, and
the other in three years, from the making of
the same. This is, therefore, to notify all
persons not to trade for said notes, as we Bre
determined not to pay the same unless com
pelled by law, as thssaid Andrews lias re
fused to rccoive Confederate money in pay
ment for the same.
