RANDOM NOTES
By Old Caesar.
“Oh, Jack, I'm awful glad you
proposed.” “Then you accept mo?”
•‘Well, no, but you see, your proposal
•pots me even with Kitty Cobb, who
had the most of any girl in our set.”
A broken engagement, possibly not
much love lost. Say, dear, you know
w« will soon be married, let us buy
some of those beautiful chickens.
Which are the best chickens of all?
"Fried chicken,” he replied. Away
she went to the coops and asked
the dealer to show her the coop of
fried chickens. The astonished deal
er told her there were no such
chickens in his coops and explained
lo her how some one had pulled a
joke off on her. She returned to her
lover and handed him ring with no
words. »
Forget, for why remember the
wrongs of yesterday? Perchance kind
words were spoken to heal the
breach today. Then let the past
forever be a blank leaf in your mem
ory. Let by-gones be by-gones. For
why should thoughts that gender
strife be nourished in your bosoms?
"How is your wife, Blinks,” asked
Jinks. '‘Her head troubles her a
good deal,” confessed Blinks. “Neu
ralgia?” queried Jinks. “No, she
wants a new hat,” answered Blinks
sadly.
Now that we are on the highway
to have one of the best consolidated
schools in the county, shall we allow
this grand ideal to be wrecked in
defeat in the last run for bonds?
Come to the front, boys, and prove
that you want your children to en
joy an equal chance educationally
with others. Don't be deceived in
this and let your children continue
to be woodchoppers. Look around
and see the condition in which your
children stand and see if there is
any hope for their future. Work?
Yes, and work on the farm with a
developed mind and see the differ
ence. Come on, boys, and get above
that narrow contractedness and vote
for bonds that will place your little
ones on an equal chance in the bat
tle for life. Make a note of this
squib. See?
