REV. ROBFRT H. HARPER
E FROE eRO R R R,
| APRIL FOOL
i The writer has not found a satisfac
tory record of the origin of April Fool's
Day. How the first of April came to
be the day when pranks perpetrated
upon the unsuspecting and when mar
ivelous or unlikely things are told and
credulity is gained and then the words
“April Fool”, the writer does not know.,
But he does have the memory of
many times he was caught by some
unlikely yarn or circumstance and
then was told “April Fool.”
We are reminded that some persons
become the victim of their onw folly.
It is worse folly than that imposed
upon them by any prankster on the
first of April. We may see around us
men who are foolish in the ways of
every day life. They may fail in busi
ness through their own foolishness.
But far worse than failure in mater
ial things is. the failure of the man
who is beguiled by the folly of sin.
For all sin in folly. The devil is a wily
deceiver who draws near to men as in
the robes of an archangel. “Be not de
ceived, God is not mocked: for whatso
ever a man soweth, that shall he also
reap.”
G. L. Johnson, engineer, Agricultural
Extension Service, advises always
reading the label before using sprays
or dusts. Caution should be used in
opening the container, too, he adds.
