Early County High School’s $-9 sensation Phillip Henderson Henderson inked a
scholarship letter with Auburn University Montgomery at his home Friday.
Henderson averaged 24 points per game and IS rebounds for Coach Tommy
Whitehurst’s Bobcats who made it to the quarter finals of the state tournament
this year. Phillip is the son of Mrs. Mattie D. Henderson. He has three sisters:
Brenda, Elain and Robin.
Auburn-Montgomery, coached by former Auburn standout Larry Chapman,
finished the past year 20-10, missing a trip to the national tournament by two
games.
Chapman had this to say about Henderson, “Phillip’s size and offensive skills
give him the opportunity to be possibly the best post player we’ve had. He should
begin contributing right away. We are really excited about his coming to Mon
tgomery.
Phillip will play in the Georgia High School All-Star game in August in Georgia
Tech’s Memorail Coliseum.
