Love Triumphs Over Obstacles.
—Yesterday afternoon Miss Narcis-
sa, dau liter of Elias Thomas, a
planter in Henry county, Ala., was
married by Justice Shivers to Mr.
Win. Cottingliani. The charming
bride was-a pupil at LeVert Female
College and aged sweet sixteen—
handsome and accomplished. The
husband is a bright and promising
young man; The father opposed the
union on account oft heir youth. The
session having closed, the father was
taking his daughter home. Young
mart took passage on same train in
mail car. Father and daughter
werc in Columbus depot reception
oom awaiting the departure of the
Eufuufci train. Father stepped out.
The lair maiden, through a window,
joined-her lover. A fast, trotter
u lipeled^hem to the city. License
was ready and they, were married.
Afterward parent and children were
reconciled. Father . pursued his
lonely way to Eufaula, while the
happy pair went back tpTalbotton.

Prof. W. II. Allen.—This gentle
man, so long, and favorably known
to the citizens of Decatur county as
the accomplished Principal of the
Baiubridge Male k Female Institute,
we regret to learn, is soon to depart
ironi our nmisi, Having accepted-a
more iucativc position in an Institute
in Dawson. Mr. Allen, during his
five years stay in this community,
has d >ne more tor the cause of edu
cation than all of his predecessors
combined, and for this reason we re
gret to lose him, yet we are glad
the place he is called to till will be
; better suited to him.

Capt. John Triplett.—This well
known and popular gentleman, late
ot Latlirop & Co; Savannau, is .spend

now in the Insurance business and
is riming a lightning schedule on

The Colored People for Gree
ley and Brown.—The New York
World, speaking of tlig correspond
ence from all quarters received at
the Greeley headquarters, in that
city, says:
Out of the forty-odd letters which
constituted the last batch, fill en of
them were trom colored people, who
signed themselves as presidents of
Grant clubs. They spoke in bitter
terms ot Grant's administration, and
