The Liberal platform.
Th. following nr. *9* rM^UHoni la luU
adopted Vj th« Liberal Republican National
C.or.ntioo at Cincinnati in May, and endora.
ed by the Democratic Cuarfcntinn in July;
\Te, the Liberal RepuWiraa# of the Vailed
Itatea, in National Convention Oarrmbled at.
Cini'inoati, proclaimed the following principles
ae eracBtiel to a Jnet government-.
Fir at—W* recognize I ha equality of a)t men
before the law, and bold that it if the doty ef
the geremnfent, in ha dealing* with the people,
te mete eaLtqual and exact justice to all; ef
nhaterer nadrvhy, raee, color, peranaaion, fa-
ligiona or pwlftioal.
Second—'Wo pledge onraelra* to maiatam
the anion of ibata State?, emancipation and
eafranobiaemact, aad to oppoae any reopening
ef the ,o«*th>n| rtttled by the Thirteenth,
f oortcenth and Fifteenth emendmenta ef the
eenetHofioh,'
Third—We demand the immediate ana abeo ■
file remefml of alhdiaabillitiee inipoaed Oo sc-
eoaet of the robellioo, which waa finally sab
dn«d aaetn yeara ago, believing that universal
amaenty will rofult In the complete pacification
•fall aecliopa cf the country.
Fourth—Local self-government, with Impar
tial suffrage, will gaard the rights of all citizens
more securely than any centralized power. Thp
pablie welfare requires the supremacy of the
•ivil oear tha military authority, and the' fiec
don of persona under the protection of the he
beaa corpus. We demand for the individual
the largest liberty consistent with public order
for the State’s ylf-government, and for the
•etion a returr to the methods of peace and.
the eoratitolional limitations of powa?.
fifth—The civil service of the government
■as bacotna a mere inrtrnibent of partisan
tyranny and personal ambition, and an object
«f selfish greed. It is a scandal and reproach
• poo our free institutions, and breeds a demor-
aliaation dangerous to the perpetuity ef repub
Kean government. We therefore regard I
thorough reform of the e1vH service as ooe of
•ho Aost pressing necessities of the hour; th.it
hnntsty, capacity and fidelity constitute the
only valid olaitus to public employment; ..that
the offices of the government ccaae to be a mat-
ter of arbitrary favoritism and pntronagp, and
that public atationa beeome agai" posts of bon
er. To this end it is imperatively required that
a» President shall be a candidate for re-elec-
tien. _
6 ! xth—We demand a aystStn of federal taxa
tion which shall not unnecessarily interfere
with the industry of the people, and which
•hall provide means necessary to .pay the ex-
penoea of the gorernment, economically admin -
latered, pensions, the interest on the public
debt, and a moderate reduction, annually/ of
the principal thereof, end recognizing that
there are in onr midst honeat, but irreconcila-
bla differences of opinion with regard t> the
respective eysleme of protection and free trade,
we remit diecuesion of the subject to the peo-
I I. in thsir congressional districts, and to the
eeision af Congress thereon, wholly free of
oxaeative interference or dictation.
flavanth—The public credit must be sacredly
Maintained, and, we ffinohnoa repudiation in
every form and guise.
Bight—A speedy return to specie payments
ts demanded alikd by the highest considerations
of ontnmereial morality aqd honest government.
Ninth—We remember with gratitude the
heroism and sacrifice of the soldiers and sailors
Of the republic, and no act of ours shall ever
detract from their justly earned fame or of the
Kill reward of tboir patriotism.
Tenth—We are opposed ts ail furthef grants
•f lands to railroads nr other corporations.
The publis domain should bo held sacred te
actual settlers.
Ileventh—We hold thst ft is the doty of the
government, in it* intercourse with foreign na
tions, cultivate the friendship of peace by
treating with all on fair and equal terms, re
garding it alike dishonorable either to demand
what ia mot right or to submit to what is wrong.
Twelfth—For the promotion and success of
these vital principle?, and the strppsrt of the
dandidates nominated by this convention, we
Invite and cordially welcome the co-operation
of all patriotic eftixens, without regard to pre
cious political a' liation.

Remittent and Intermittent Fevers, Diseases of tb«
Blood, Liver, Kidneys and Bladder, these Bitters have
been most successful. Such Diseases are caused by
Vitiated Blood, which is generally produced by dcran»«-
i»«nt of the Digestive Organs.
They are a Gentle Purgative as well ns
* Tonic, possessing also the peculiar merit of acting
as a powerful agent in relie^ng Congestion or Inflani
mation pf the Liver and Visceral Organs, and in Diiigug
Diseases-*
For Skin Diseases, Eruptions, Tetter, Salt-
Rheum, Blotches; Spots, Pimples, Pustules, Boils,Car
buncles, Ring-worms, Scald-Head, Sore Byes, Ery
sipelas. Itch, Scurfs, Discolorations of the Skin, Humors
and Diseases of the Skin, of whatever name or nature,
are literally dug up and carried out of the system iiva
short time by the nse of these Bittery. One bottle is
such cases will convince ths most incredulous of their
curative effects.
Cleanse the Vitiated Blood whenever rotf
find its impurities bursting through the skin in Pimples,
Eruptions, or Sores; cleanse it when you find it ob
structed and sluggish in the veins ; cleanse it when it is
foul; yot»r feelings will tell von when. Keep the blood
pure, and die health of the* ystem will follow.
Grateful thousands proclaim Vinhga* Bit
ters the most wonderful Invigorant that ever sustained
the sinking system.'
Pin, Tape, and other Worms, lurking is
-the system of so many thousands, are effectually de
stroyed and removed. Says s distinguished physiol
ogist: There is scarcely an individual upon the faceoftlit
karth whose body is exempt from the presence of wormy.
It. is not upon the healthy elements of the body that
warms exist, but upon the diseased humors and slimy
deposits that breed these living monster* of diseas*.
No system of Medicine, no vermifuges, no antlielmia-
itios, will free the system from worms like tliese Bit
ters.
fllecnanical Diseases. Persons engaged i*
Paint% and Minerals, such as Plumbers, Typc-ictitn,
Gold-beaters, and Miners, ms they advance in life, wi\\
be subiect to paralvsis of the BoweN. To guard against
this take a dose of Walker's Vinsgak' Bittirs one*
or twice a weelc. as a Preventive.
Bilious, Keuiliteut, and Intermittent
Fevers, which are so prevalent in the valleys of our
great rivers throughout the United States, especially
‘those of the Mississippi, Ohio, Missouri, Illinois, Ten
nessee, Cumberland, Arkansas. Red, Colorado, Braznc,
Rio Grvide, Pearl, Alabama, Mobile. Savannah, Roa«-
oke, James, and jnanv others, with their vast tributa
ries. throughout our entire country dining the Summer
and Autumn, and remarkably so during seasons ’of
unusual heat and dryness, are invariably accompanied
by extensive derangements of the stomach and liver, and
other abdominal viscera. There are always more or less
obstructions of the liver, a weakness and irritable state
of the stomach, and great torpor of the bowels, being
clogged up with vitiated accumulations. In their treat
ment, a purgative, exerting a powerful influence upos
these various organs, is essentially necessary. There is
no cathartic for the purpose equal to Dr. J- Walkkk’s
Vinrgar Bitters, as they will speedily remove the
dark colored viscid matter with which the bowels are
loaded, at the same time stimulating the secretions of
tlie liver, and generally restoring the healthy functions
of the digestive organs.
.Scrofula, or King’i Evil, White Swellings,
Ulcers, Ri^sipelas, Swelled Neck, Goiter, Scrofulous
Inflammations, Indolent Ir.flammalions. Mercurial Af
fections, Old Sores, Eruptions of -the Skin, Sore Eves,
•tc., etc. . In these, as in all other constitutional Dis
eases, Wai.kkr’s Vinkgak Bittkrs have shown their
great curative powers iji the most obstinate and intrad-
. able cases. * -
Dr. Walker’s California vinegar Bll f«rt
act on all these cases in a similar manner. By purifying
the Blood tfley remove the cause, and by resolving away
the effects of the inflammation (the tubercular deposits)
the affected parts receive ^ealth, and a permanent care
is effected.
The propegllee of Dr. Wai.kkr's Vinegar
Bitters are Aperient, Diaphoretic and Carminative,
Nutritious, Laxative, Diuretic, Sedative, Counter-Irri
tant, Sudorific, Alterative, and Anti-Bilious.
The Aperient arid mild Laxative properties or
Dr. Walker’s Vinrgar Bitters are the best safe.-
gnafd in all cases of eruptions and malignant fevers,
their balsamic, healing, and soothing properties protect
the humors of the fauces- The*# Sedative properties
allay pain in the nervous system, stomach, and bowels,
either from inflammation, wind, colic, cramps, etc.
Their Counter-Irritant influence extends* throughout
the system. Their Diuretic properties act 6ft the Kid
neys, correcting and regulating the flow of urine. 1 heir
Anti-Bilious properties stimulate the liver, in the secre
tion of bile, and its discharges through the biliary ducts,
and are superior to all remedial agents, for the cure of
Bilious Fever, Fearer and Ague, etc.
Fortify the hotly against disease bv puri
fying all its fluids with Vinegar Bitters. % Nq ep!-
dcmic can take hold of a system thus forearmed. The
liver, the stomach, the bowels, the kidneys, and the
nerves are rendered disease-proof by this great invig
orant.

at night from a half to one and one-half wme-glasafull.
