True Loveliness.*
She wlio thinks a noble heart
Better that* a noble mien : ■»
Honors virtue more than art.
Though.’tis less in fashion, seen
Whatsoc’r her fortune be,
* She’s the bride—the wife—for me. .
She who deems that inward grace
Far sarpa-sses outward show ;
She who values less the face
Than the charm the soul can throw;
Whatsoever her fortune be,
She’s the bride—the wife—for me.
Site who knows the heart requires
Something more than lips of dew;
That when love's brief rose expires,
Love itself dies with it, too—
Whatsoe’er her fortune be,
She’s the bride—the wife—for me.
Domestic Row.
The Kansas.Tunes tells us that after
tho colored festival closed at McDowell’s
Hall, in Kansas City, recently, one
Stark, a barber, started to escort a lady
home, but at the foot of the stairs his
wife met the couple and put a veto on
the proceedings by taking her husband
by£He collar, throwing him down, and
taking his cane and beating him over
the head witlj, it.
The girl he was to -aeeompjiTty home
stood by looking at the performance
with delight, but her pleasure was sud
denly interrupted by the wife turning
and giving her a blow in the face. The
gill made off down the street with the
wife olo6e on her heels, but the- fear of
a whipping caused 1 her to outrun the
irate spouse, who gave up the chase and
rcpnrned to her liege, whom she took by
the ear and led gently home, stirring
him up with the cane when he lagged.

Is the place to educate your Sons and
Daughters. It has two distinct departments,
one for males, the other for females. Obser
vation has, long ago, taught us that an abso
lute separation of the sexes is contrary to
nature and is hurtful, to both; also, that an
association, too freqne'at and protracted is
equally perdicious. We aim at the golden
medium; andfourycars successful experiment
coi®rbiB us in the belief that we have the
right plan. Young ladies and young gentle
men in our Seminary are courteous in de
portment, tidy in dress, and correct and
chaste rn their language. Our course of study
is collegiate, practicalandsuiteil to the times.
Good government is secured by rewarding
tbegqud, as well as punishing the bad; this
is TfitUBible rule, l’upils study, not as much
by compulsion, as by emulation and being
enabled to understand and love tlie sciences.
Oqrtvillnge is healthy, the people cultivated,
moral and social. Accommodation for board
ing is ample. Next session will begin on
Janaary 13th; $200 will pay board and tui
tion- one year.
