Dear Sir ;-t-A few days ago we had a
fire at our shipyard, which was caused by
the boiliug over of the pitch kettle. 1 his
vessel stood iu a small- frame structure, es
pecially designed for the purpose of coring
and melting the pitch. At the time of the
fire there was a barrel and a half standing
in the building, and about halt a barrel in
the kettle. The fire was instantly opposed
bv two powerful streams from the city
mains The water seemed to have very
.little effect upon the flames, but as thedo*-
en I'abcock were brought to
bear upon them'they were qncikly subdued.
Our experience thus far has been very
satisfactory, and has confirmed the high
opinion wo have always entertained for
your ext inguishers. Smcen-ly yours-
