The Delights of Tobacco - —We nev- 1
er thoroughly enjoyed one phase of l
human existence till we learn to smoke. J
There is a sort of mental and physical i
stupor that overcome a man after a
day’s work and hearty meal. The
sensation is one of lassitude, and the
mental faculties are as incapable as
the physical of energetic action. Such
sensations and the consciousness of
such a condition is not wholly unpleas
ant, but if a man would convert a neg
ative state into one of positive pleas
ure and of supreme sensual beatitude,
let him go to the Mammoth Tobacco
Warehouse of J nudau, Howard &
Haralson, Atlanta, Ga. And supply
himself with some of their superb
brands of cigars (of tneir own manu
facture,) and tobacco, and while the
columns of gray smoke encircle his
head, his fancy invests itself with the
wings of seraphs aud he is lapped in
the joys of clysium.

Republican policy :
There is an apparent misapprehen- j

action of the Georgia Legislature re-;
garding the election of Senators. It j
seems to be taken for granted that the
law of Congress contemplated such ac
tion. Nothing is further from the!
fact ; and this is now und< rstood by the
President and by a majority of* the
Senate. The law never contemplated
an invalidation of all the action of the I
Georgia Legislature as organized by
Gen. Meade; it onty provided for the
correction of the error made iu expell
ing rightfully elected members in vio
lation of the 14th Amendment of the j
Constitution. When this is fully done,,
the object,of the law is accomplished. ;
And if Messrs. Hill and Miller, the
Senators eiect, present, themselves
they will doubtless be sworn in, p *ovi- i
