Some estimate the cost of them at
$30,000. If cotton should be low, it
will require a good deal of the quanti

not bo better to manufacture a larger
amount of manures on our farms ?
Go to N. Gilreath k Son’s to buj

Once more the blue sky is visible
overhead. The rains have ceased, and
we hope we shall have flue weather for

in good heart, their faith pointing to a
fruitful year.
N. Gilreath k Son are receiving a

model road bed, and fish rails so beau
tifully straight. Jumping aboard, the
iron horse bounded away for Carters
viUe, some two miles distance, at a
rate of speed impossible on most roads
in Georgia. We ran at the rate of at
least 35 miles per hour. Our courser,
like the fabled Pegasus, seemed to fly,

. Improvement seems to be the ruling
«fder in our town. Very many new
houses are going up. Among the num
ber, a nice cottage, fronting the square,
near the depot, for Mr. Aaron Collins,
another, on that beautiful lot opposite
the Methodist Church, for Dr. Jack

moved to our place. Col. Crawfqrd is
tastefully remodelling his premises.—
He has a beautiful lot overlooking the
town. We hope Col. Tnralin will soon
open that now street to his house, a
mile long, and thus tlirow oa tho mar
ket some desirable building lots We
intend that our Station, on the W. &

this announcement, we beseech all
members of the different churches to

of prayer to come out, and especially
we would kindly invite those who feel

Gower, Jones & Cos. have greatly re
duced the price of Buggies, Ac., to suit
the tightness of the times.
You can buy from them to-day a
No. 1 Buggy for $l5O, $25 less than
the same buggy could be purchased
two years ago.
Their increased facilities for doing
work, together with a steady effort to
reduce the cost of work, has enabled
them to make this deduction.
Their desire and request is that they
may do the work for this country.—
They have spent their money freely;
have labored hard to pat themselves
in a position to command the respect
and to merit the patronage of all.
They earnestly ask that no friend of
the South will ignore an enterprise like
theirs in our midst. Why should
you send to the North or*' West for
Carriages, Buggies or Wagons when
they are building as well finished, and
more durable and reliable work here
at our doors.
Well done for Billy! making himself
useful as well as ornamental. We
have needed, ever since the war, a
genteel hoarse in this place, and some
body to attend to putting away the
dead. We will have no more jolting,
clumsy wagons and carts now. Our
beloved dead shall go to their last rest
ing place honored and respected in
good style.
When we could do no better, we
were justifiable in using wagons, but,
now, Billy has a splendid first class
hearse, built expressly for Cartersville
and surrounding country, we will send
tor him, and feel glad that he has pro
vided so well for ua as we all expect to
die.
The Place to But Crockery. —We
have long thought that Messrs. Mc-
Bride & Cos., had one of the handsom
est stores especially internally, to
be found in the city of Atlanta. One
almost imagines himself in a fairy pal
ace as ho surveys the beautifully ar
ranged shelves of china, glass, porce
lain, granite and silver plated ware,
which gives such an air of beauty
to the place. But attractive as is the
stock, the propiutors would prefer to
exchange it for green! auks—and they
are -‘mighty right.” Then we say to
on i and all, in town and country, if
anything is wanted in the crockery
line go to Mcßride A Co.’s store.

his brother, It. A. Moseley, Jr., also of

In addition, Bro. Moseley promised
to send us his Daily in exchange, but

A Suggestion to the State Road.
The day train on the State Road
gets to Atlanta after three o’clock in
the afternoon. Yet it stops at no
point for dinner. This is a great in
convenience to travelers. We would
suggest that a revision of the matter
be made so as to enable travelers to
get dinner at that unsurpassable ho

Fresli, pure air is a vitalizing elixir.—
Whoever is debarred by circumstances from
unrestricted access to this invisible, but
powerful stimulant, needs a medicinal invig
orant of some kind. The great object should
be to choose the best, Popularity is a pretty
good guarantee of merit in this scrutinizing
and intelligent age, and tried by this crite
rion Hostctter’s Stomach Bitters stands first
among the invigorating and regulating med
icines of the present day. To the wants of
persons engaged in indoor employments,
especially in crowded factories where even
with the best possible ventilation the atmos
phere is always in some degree polluted, this
salubrious vegetable tonic is peculiarly
adapted. The nature of the ingredients is
no mystery. It consists of an absolutely pure
diffusive stimulant, tinctured—or rather
surcharged--with the fluid extracts of sana
tious roots and barks and herbs,
The pharmacopoeia has its tiuctures, but
what nr« they? The juice *f only a silge
root or hark or plaut is present in each. Not
one of them combines the three properties of
a tonic, an alterative, and an aperient. All
these elements are blended in the Hitters;
nor are these the sum of its medicinal recom
mendations. It is also a blood depurent and
an antispasmodic,
The baleful effect which air that has been
partially exhausted of its oxygen by frequent
j breathing it produces on the vital organiza
| tion, is notorious, and when to this devital
i ized atmosphere is superadded the mephitic
vapor of hot air furnaces, it becomes delete
rious and depressing in the extreme. To
enable tho system to bear up, even for a few
hours each day against the debilitating in
fluence of a vitiated atmosphere, a wholesome
tonic and alterative is urgently required.
This grand disideratum is supplied in Hos

ing, health-protecting agent has no rival
cither among officinal or advertised medi
cines.

DISEASES OF THE BLOOD.
‘ The life of flesh is in the Blood," is a Scriptural
maxim that science proves to he true. Tho people
talk of bad blood, as the cause of many disease*, and
like many popular opinions this of bad blood is found
ed in truth.
The symptoms of bad blood are usually qui*e plain
—bad Digestion—causes imperfect nutrition, and con
sequently the circulation is feeble, the soft tissues loose
their tone and elasticity, and the tongue becomes pale,
broad, at and frequently covered with a pasty, white coat .
This condition soon shows iiself in roughness of the
skin, then in ERUPTIVE and ULCERATIVE diseas
es, and when long continued, results in serious lesions
of the Brain, Liver, Lungs, or urinary apperatug.—
Much, very much, suffering is caused by impure blood
It is estimated by some that one-fifth of the human
family are effected with scrofula in some form.
When the Blood is pure, you are not so liable to any
disease. Many impurities of the Blood arise from
impure diseases of iarge cities. Eradicate every iin
puiity from the fountain of life, and good spirits, fair
skin and vital strength will return to you.
