Major Franklin S, Bloom, which took place i
Thurdey night last. Major Bloom had just re- |
turned from Northwestern Virginia, whore he

distinguished himself for gallantry and good
i conduct at the battle of Green Brier, lie was
still a member of Gen. Jaoksou'a military fami
ly and conti uiplatod joining him ir* a few days,
after a visit to his friends in Macon. While
here, as soldiers are very liable to do, in tho
ohange from the exposure of earn p life to close j
houses, ho contracted a cold, which settled on j
hie lungs in the form of pneumonia and carried 1
