kpicy correspondent's sketch, we would add. that
after reaching the grounds addresses were dcllv-
ered in the Baptist Church, which was crowded
to Its utmost capacity, by Messrs. McI<«roj and
Junha Jordan. The lot mer of those gentle
men is quite a youth, and fresh from the curricu
bun of college duty. Ills remarks, however, be
tokened a brilliant imagination, and gava evi

We were so fortunate as to be the gtirst of the
charming Mrs. T. of Kufsiild, and with aererul
other frichds enjoyed to the full bet bountiful

of soul," which so eminently marked the occa

of an original poem composed by Mr. Black of

Mr. 8bortcr proposed a vote of thanks to the
Cnihbert people for the hospitalities extended to
the excursionists, which was unanimously carried.

Judge Clarke then followed in an elaborate
argument to the whites, showiug (hat despite the
unfavorable aspect of political affair* in our

part, and the assistance of our Northern allies,

Judge Clarke enforced hi* points with many
simple and homely illustrations, which were

Our Noble Death
The sweet but sad duty of detonating (he
