Corn—Is in moderate demand, with heavy
aitoo'ka—the demand being continued to conaum*
era and the Unde: prices are fluctuating; and
probably will bo the balanco of the year.
Wheat—la scarce, and wanted at ourquotationi;
but the heavy stocks and low prices of flour will
keep the price of wheat In moderate bounds.
Rye—Is 111 Very limited demand, and prices
nominal: tho demand Is so limited, we cannot, in
good faith, advise shipments.
Oats—Move very slowly, with good stocks: the
domnnd for seed has been much less than lust
year, owing to the large preparation fur cotton
crops,io tho exclusion of grain.
Flour—Moves slowly but regular at our quota
tions, witli large stocks on the market: large sales
'could only bo effected at considerable co cession
from our quotations.
Hay—Is in regular di-man 1, at quotations, with
good stock, and no spoculativo domand.
Uacdn and Lmd—Go ofT freely, and iu every
day demand; and wo have no doubt the demand
will ho good all spring and turainer.
Pce4—ate In alow demand: stocki are an Urge,
Wo do llbl look for much ndvuuco.
Rhttcr—Is staroe, and in request, If fresh and
wound, and In neat small packages. We again
urge shipped! to send to market none but sound,
•weet butter, put up in bleached cloth as lining
and covering. All purchasers of butter want if
1 resit and fieo from stale, and want it clean, lit
clean vessels Never send butter to inarkot in
vessels mude of pine.
Irish Potatoes— If large and One, bring $1.00
to 1.25; If small or mixed, unsaleable atony price;
and such ought never to be sent to market.
Onions—It large and sound, sell readily at $1.28
to $1.50; small unsound are very dilUcult to sell
nt any price. We occasionally get same hard lots
—sprouting and rotting—soft and pelhy—such as
we regrat to see coine into the house—and auch
as never should be sent to market.
We are pleased to note that the general produce
trade is heavy, ar.d for the post few weeks we hare
had no time to spare from the uuiy ui iciu.u 0 ,
selling, and shipping, and our regular correspon*
tloiicc; with a fair indication that it will bo eon*
tinned for some months to come; and we have
•evidence that our neighbors are also pressed with
the heavy increasing trade of this City—the great
•central emporium of trade for a Inrgc portion of
the products of those fertile sections of couutry,
via.: Tennessee, South-west Virginia, North Geor
gia, and North Alabama. We rejoice at the evi
dence* of the future prosperity of the country,
north and south of us and bid our farmers God
speed: in them lie? the prosperity of the country.
With a view to keep our frienJs and the com
munity posted every week wtlh the state of our
market, we have arranged with the following val
uable jouinils to publish our market reports, to-
•wit: Nuutu GeouatA Citizen, • * * • •
• * * to which papers wo refer the public, as in
them our quotations arc published weekly from
«etu il sales, and os reliable as our letters or prices
current*; and as wo sre subscribers to csch of
these papers—either of which will do to read on
Sundays—We hope all our shipping friends will
aubscribc for one or more of them: if they don't,
We art quite sure-the publishers think they ought.
We fill ail cash orders for cotton jams and do*
mcstics, at manufacturers’ prices. Parties having
produce III store or on the way, to cover amount
of their orders for these goods, uro regarded us
Vnsh.
We charge no dravage on full car loads, and
storage except on hay. Our commU>ioiis are 5
per cent for selling, and per cent for buying.
\v« have the best of facilities for disposing of

Our general rule Is to tbnkb no advances on
