If so wo have much causo for regret, and surely cannot .liccoutcntcd until we have done something good to erase tho thought from tho tablet of memory. If any human thought can' bo compared to tlio omenntlons of Divini ty it is certainly that of tho poets prayer, “Teach mo to feel anotheV'a woe, To tihlo tlio fault I hoc, That mercy I to others show*, That mercy show to me.” For kilulness rendered to a poor BUlfercr, I thunk you, God bless you eood man, coming from n. lrcnrt ovcrllowing with gratitude, is bettor pnjj tlmn any treasure of cafth. Tho oiic nils the soul with de light, tho other the purse that may be ta ken from you. Hero id a poor wayward wanderer, seduced in youth from the path of rectitude by. the evil influences flint sur rounded him. lie says by his actions that he wishes to return to the paths of virtue; will you take him by tho hand, treat him as a friend, a brother, ndvlsowlth him, console him, pray with and for him, and by gentle * means, nud kind treatment; make him a useful man, an ornament to society? Or will you, in 3'our proud heart, scorn him from you, treat him with un- kindness, and indifference, and thus drive him* deeper in sin and shame? What a beautiful sentiment was taught us Vi’ the divine Muster, when the woman who had .sinned was accused and brought before him. “He that hath no sin let him cast the llrst stone.” “Go and sin no more.” There is more of the (rod-man, more of divinity, in those words, than in all the mi nicies ;>erformcd.
