Tako a.peck ofunslacked lime, and uso
boilihg water to slack it; cover itduring tho
procbSB to keep iu tho steam, and when it
is all slacked, add to it one-half peck of
sails, previously dissolved iu boiling Wa
ter. . Then boil three pounds of ground
rice to. a thin paste and stir it in boiling
hot. Then tako one-half pound of glue
which lias been soaking in water all night,
nnd molt it over a slow fire. Tho glue will
readily dissolve after soaking, and when
it is all dissolved^ pour it into your paint
nnd stir all up together, adding water
it, .which would bo better if hot.
Put into it enough water to make it about
the thickness of crcaiu, but do not put it
on too thick, as it is hotter to givo two
tlu-oo thin coats than ono thick one. This
mixture, after being stirred well, Bhould
stand where it will bo free from dirt, two
or three days boforo used.
It fs bettor to put it on hot if you can
conveniently do so.
I will horo say that where tho siding of
a house is rough, not dressed, or much
weather-beaten, this cheap paint will
last much longer than on smooth siding.
