most instantly.
A fow hours previous to Ills death, ho
returned from Marietta where lib attend

In company with others, ho stnrtcd home,
which is somo fow miles up the nbovo men
tioned road. Just before, getting there,
bis companions proposed going to a neigh
boring spring to get a df ink of water. lie
told them ho didn’t desire any, but that
lio would wait till they returned. They
left hint seated ou tho track. Shortly they
started back in quest of tho young man,
hut, somehow or other, lost tho way.-—
They called, hut receiving no reply, con
cluded ho had gone on ahead. Tho hal-
auco may ho told in a few words. Tito
youug man having lost two nights sleep,
was undoubtedly overpowered by drowzl-
ness. IIo slept, unconscious of tho train
as it thundered near. Unfortunately, tho
enginoer did not light his lamp that night,-
and ho was not aware of any ono being on
the track till startled by tho waking cries
of the already mangled hoy.
Tho poor fellow was terribly crushed.—
Ills left leg was cut off near the body and
his right foot mangled fearfully. lie lived
hut a short while after the accident.
As stated above, he lived in the country
and was a student of ono of our schools,
IIo was about seventeen years of ago, and
regarded by all as a moral young man.
