COUGH OF TWENTY YEARS CUBED
Mv Mother had a cough for twenty
yearn, pneumonia leaving her with a bron-
chial trouble. Two years ago, her lungs
becoming involved, she became very much
emeiatea and lost all strengtli benig un
der regular treatment of a physician and
taking medicine all hours of the day
This continued until a year ago when I
saw your advertisement of Dr. Acker s
English Remedy for consumption and
procured a bottle, as the tackling m her
throat was unremitting and so irritating
as to make talking impracticable. She
wa» so much relieved that another bottle
was procured and we now buy by the
case, she never being without it. She
has no physician and takes no_other medi
cines. She remarked lately that if she
had not procured it when she did she
would now be dead. We have recommen-
ded it to others, who always receive hen-
efit from it. If anyone desiring further
particulars will address me with a stamp
I will answer with pleasure, as I deem it
the best cough medicine made. A trial
only is necessary to convince anyone of
its merit. Very respectfully,
D. W. Simmons, Postmaster,
Cave Springs, Ga.

BOASTING IS DANGEROUS.
Boasting is dangerous. Railroad men
have a superstitious dread of any expres
sion of pride over the accidents on their
roads. The writer of this once congrat
ulated a prominent manager of a well-
known line upon its freedom from loss
of life. “Don’t,” he replied. “Tomor
row may reverse the record.” On last
Tuesday the Boston Herald published
an editorial saying “that it believed
great sweeping conflagration is altogeth
er impossible in the newly-constructed
business districts of Boston, and this,
too, in spite of the fact that the build
ings are, as a rule, higher and larger
than those which occupied these sites
prior to our great fire.” Before the edi
torial was read by the people of the city
an alarm was sent in from the same box
that was used in the §60,000,000 fire of
1872, and then followed the destruction
of nearly S11,000,"000 of property. How
ever safe one may feel, it is not well to
boast.
ADVICE TO MOTHERS.
Are you disturbed at night and broken
of your rest by a sick child suffering and
crying with pain of cutting teeth? If so,
send at once and get a bottle of Mrs.
Winslow’s Soothing Syrup for Children
Teething. Its value is incalculable. It
will relieve the poor little sufferer im
mediately. Depend upon it, mothers;
.there is no mistake about it. It cures
dysintery and diarrlicEa, regulates the
stomach and bowels, cures wind colic,
softens the gums, reduces inflammation,
and gives tone and energy to the whole
system. Mrs. Winslow’s Soothing Syrup
for children Teething is pleasant to the
taste, and is the prescription of one of
the oldest and best female nurses and
physicians in the United States, and a
for sale by all druggists throughout the
world. Price 25 cents a bottle.
SIGNIFICANT.
It is to be observed that the English
newspapers are praising President Har-
risui’s message. Now, this is signifi
cant, isn’t it? Doesn’t it signify that Har

The most rigid economy is necessary
in farming. A Minnesota farmer pre
pared his dead wife for the grave with
his own hands, unaided made her coffin
and drove alone with her in his wagon to
the cemetery. On the way he met
neighbor with whom he swapped horses
on terms which were decidedly advan
tageous to himself. Such economy and
shrewdness in a tariff-fostered industry
would make a man independently
wealthy.
William Noble, a New York million
aire, was divorced from his wife a month
ago. He thought she had become too
fond of a musician employed by him at
his Asbury Park hotel. Two or three
weeks after the divorce was granted the
couple were married again. Mr. Noble’s
brief spell of “liberty” is said to have
cost him $10,000, but he is able to indulge
his little whims.
