ROYAL
Baking Powder
Makes the food more wholesome, and more
nutritious to both brain and muscle.
I have given the Training Table
to the Cornell University for five
years very satisfactorily, and am
certain that much of the success
has depended upon the quality' of
articles used. In baking powder,
I use the Royal, for it is undoubt
edly the best. I have occasionally
given others d. trial, and have dem
onstrated to my satisfaction that
there is but one always reliable,
always making perfect, delicious
and wholesome food, — The Old
Reliable “Royal.”

My information is that Russell

Selling Medicine at Half Price Under
Guarantee'of Cure
After two months of remarks
ble sales, Fincher & Nichols, the
enterprising druggists, say that
their plan of selling at half price
the regular 50 cent size of Dr
Howard’s specific for the cure of
„ constipation and dyspepsia, and
to name the officers of a munici- gQ a i an t ee j U g t 0 refund the money
pality. But owing to the fact *-
that the population of St. Mary’s
is largely composed of negroes, in
order to have a white mayor and
aldermen instead of a negro mayor
and negro aldermen, the legist
lature has provided that, the gov
ernor shall appoint whatever peo
ple are nominated by a white
mass meeting of the citizens of,
the town. The mass meeting
held on April 5th nominated the
city officials, and Saturday Gov
ernor Terrell issued commissions
to L. M. Cocelii, mayor, and to
J. R Bocklott, J. F. Arnow, H.
L. Long, II. Lee Bunkley and J.
M. Miller as aldermen. The term
of office is for one year from the
second Monday in April.

Big System Apparently Trying to
Reach Chattanooga.
The report that the Louisville
and Nashville railroad is trying
to secure an entrance into Chatta
nooga has been revived by the
appearance of a party of surveyors
who are marking a line from Wet-
more station, on the Atlanta,
Knoxville and Northern railroad,
to Dalton, on the Western and
Atlantic. The Louisville and
Nashville owns the Atlanta, Knox
ville and Northern and the Louis**
ville and Nashville is known to
have been anxious for years to
get a line of its own into Chatta
nooga and compete with the
Southern for Northern and East-*
era business.
li'om Knoxville to Wetmore
the distance is only sixty-seven
miles and from Wetmore to
Dalton the distance is only
sixty miles. From Dalton to
Chattanooga the Louisville and
Nashville could use the Western
and Atlantic tiacks. By filling
the gaps the Louisville and Nash
ville would have a line to the
north only a little longer than
that of the Southern and would be
on practically an equal basis with
it.
An entrance into Atlanta over
the new route would also prove
a very important acquisition for
Louisville and Nashville. By
sending its trains into both Atanta
and Chattanooga it would be in a
position to seize a large bulk of
the business which now must go
to the Southern.
The benefits to Chattanooga by
the entrance of the new line would
be great. It is very probable that
rates would be lowered, but aside
from this Chattanooga would get
service with two roads to select
from. In addition the line would
open up a good section of country
to Chattanooga merchants.
The report that the surveyors
were at work was discussed at
much length by several local rail
road men yesterday. These were
of the one opinion that the Louis**
ville and Nashville was investigat
ing with a view of breaking into
the local situation.—Chattanooga

Words of Appreciation.
Tallapoosa, Ga., April 25,1904
Col. J. Lindsay Johnson, Editor
Tribune, Rome, Ga.
Dear Sir:—I defile through the
columns of your paper to thank
the people who were my friends
for their support of my candidacy
for congress. My words are too
weak to express my appreciation
The friends who stood by m*
are at liberty to command my ser
vices when they have need of
them. My heart will go forth in
gratitude to them, and I shall al
ways seek an opportunity to show
how substantially I love them.
For those who saw fit to oppose
me, I have but the kindest feeling
for no man has any right to hold
office but by the permission of the
people, and when the majority of
the ballots are cast for another I
do not and will not~complain, but
gracefully submit to the will of
the majority.
I want to always live so as to
merit the confidence of the people
among whom I live.
May God bless and prosper our
people, and I live in hope that our
country will walk in the light of
His counsel.
Sincerely yours,
G. R. Hutchens.

MONTH’S TRIAL FREE
Breathe Hyomei Three or Four Times
Daily and Be Cured of Catarrh.
Hightower & Talley, one of the
most reliable business firms in
Dalton, have seen many instances
of the remarkable power of Hyomei
to cure catarrhal troubles and other
disorders of the respiratory organs.
Results in this treatment have
given them so much confidence in
Hyomei that they will give a
month’s trial with the positive
understanding that if at the end
of that time a cure is not effected
or enough relief gained to warrant
a continued use of the treatment
for a while longer, the money will
be refunded.
Hyomei is the only treatment
for catarrh that has ever been
sold under a “no cure, no pay”
plan, and the only one where a
month’s trial treatment is free
unless it cures.
Hyomei is not a pill or liquid.
Just breathe it through the neat
inhaler that copies with • every
outfit, and benefit will be seen
from the first day’s use. Breathed
this way, the health-giving
Hyomei penetrates to the minutest
air cells of the lungs, and drives
•atarrhal germs and poisons from
the system.
The complete outfit cost but #1
and extra bottles of Hyomei may
be obtained for 50c.
Remember that if Hyomei does
not cure you after a month’s trial,
Hightower & Talley will refund
your money and the treatment will
be absolutely free.
