One way in life’s endeavor,
Or be it dark or day,
Forever and forever,
Sweetheart, one way!
II.
Though thornB creep round earth’s
flowers
In wrath to strike and slay,
One way alone be ours—
Sweetheart, one way!
III.
No barriers to sever,
And still this prayer to pray:
Forever and forever,
Sweetheart, one way!
—Frank L. Stanton.
It isn’t that men are smarter

are.
Woman without love is like a

A medical authority has recent
ly uttered a warning against the
habit of sitting with one knee
crossed over the other—a pose
which is nowadays almost as com
mon among women as among
men. This apparently harmless
habit, it seems, is likely to cause
sciatica, lameness, chronic numb
ness, ascending paralysis, cramps,
varicose veins and other evils.
The reason is simple: The back
of the knee, it is explained, as well
as the front of the elbow and
wrist, the groin and the armpit,
contains nerves and blood vessels
which are less adequately protect
ed than other parts of the body
The space between the knee con
tains two large nerves, a large
artery and numerous veins and
lymphatic glands. It is the pres
sure on these nerves and vessels
which is apt to give rise to the
various troubles against which we
are fighting.—Joaquin Miller in
Harper’s Weekly.

Announcement has been made
in Brunswick, Ga., of the engage
ment of Miss Mamie Burroughs
to Mr. Charles W. Deming, beth
popular young people of Bruns
wick.
Miss Burroughs has many
friends and admirers in this city,
as she has visited the family of
Hon. John Black on several occa
sions.
Miss Burroughs is beautiful
and highly accomplished. She
was sponsor for the State of
Georgia at the Confederate Vet
erans’ reunion at Louisville, and
has worn many other honers very
gracefully.
Mr. Deming is prominent and
popular in social, newspaper and
commercial circles.
The marriage will occur on
June 15, and will be a society
event.
A quiet wedding oecurred at
the home of Mrs. Cleghorn on
Baker street Friday evening. Mrs
Evelyn Cleghorn Dimock was
married to Judge W. M. Henry
of Rome, Ga. Mrs. Dimock has
lived in Wellington since early
girlhood, and we regret that she
O’clock, P. M.
be united in marriage to Miss
Ellen C. Wortley. The bride has
visited Dalton several winters in
company with her aunt, Mrs. Lois
Leetch, and is quite popular. Mr.
Jones will be most heartily con
gratulated on his good fortune.
They will be welcomed on their
arrival here.
A couple that love one another,
that are devoted to one another’s
higher interests, that live for
knowledge and industry and love
and duty, that have a purpose in
life, and that purpose a moral one,
can get along very well on $14 a
week.
And so we would advise the
young woman, if she loves her
sweetheart and he loves her, to
marry him.
Their home, it is true, will not
be a palatial one, but it will be a
home, and if love is there it will
be a beautiful home—a home
which many rich ones on the
boulevards, who have everything
else but love, would give all their
millions to possess.
Yes, young woman, get mar
ried. Get out of that dark, stuffy
office. Begin to live, even though
it be upon an humble scale.—

Gentlemen: “For two months my physician experimented
with me trying to cure a hard cold which settled In my stomach,
causing inflammation and catarrh. I then made np my mind
he was simply unable to help me, and reading some of the
flattering testimonials as to the value of Peruna in such cases,
I thought I would try it.
“It was six weeks before I could eat a meal without unpleasant
effects, but I have now been well for six months, and I give all
the credit to Peruna.”—Mrs. Leone Dolehan.

Miss Helen Whitman, 808}^ Grand

“There is nothing like Peruna for
that tired feeling, which gives you no
ambition for work or play. After a pro-'
longed illness, about a year ago I felt
unable to regain my health, but four
bottles of Peruna made a wonderful
change and restored me to perfect health.
As long as you keep your blood in a
good condition yon are all right, and
Peruna seems to fill the veins with pure,
healthful blood. I thoroughly endorse
It.”—Miss Helen Whitman.
How to Get Strong Nerves.
I'irst, repair the injury already done
to your nerves. The way to do this is to
do exactly as did Mr. Hal. P. Denton,
Chief Department Publicity and Promo
tion of National Export Exposition.
He writes: “ Toward the latter part
of August I found rnyself in a very
much run-down condition. My family
physician said I had nervous prostra
tion and recommended a sea voyage. I
gradually grew worse. A kind friend
whom I had known in Ohio recom
mended Peruna. Though skeptical, I
finally yielded to his advice. After
using one bottle I was much improved
and with the fifth bottle came complete
recovery. I am in perfect health today
and owe everything to Peruna.”—Hal.

spring. Something to brace the nerves,
invigorate the brain, and cleanse the
blood. That Peruna will do this is be
yond all question. Everyone who has
tried it has had the same experience as
Mrs. D. W. Timberlake, of Lynchburg,
Va., who, in a recent letter, made use of
the following words: “ I always take a
dose of Peruna after business hours, as
it is a great thing for the nerves. There
is no better spring tonic, and I have
used about all of them.”—Mrs. D. W.
Timberlake.
Catarrh in Spring.
Tbe spring is the best time to treat
catarrh. Nature renews herself every
spring. The system is rejuvenated by
spring weather. This renders medi
cines more effective. A short course of
Peruna, assisted by the balmy air of
spring, will cure old, stubborn cases of
catarrh that have resisted treatment for
years. Everybody should have a copy
of Dr. Hartman’s latest book on catarrh.
