Every one knows that Royal Baking
Powder is absolutely pure. Hence the
housewife uses it with implicit confidence
ana without question, and she is justified
in so doing.
But how few realize that Royal Baking
Powder in its chief ingredient is a direct prod
uct of the healthful and delicious grape! This
constituent of the grape, crystallized and ground
to an impalpable powder, is the cream of tar
tar which forms the active principle of every
pound of Royal Baking Powder.
Fruit properties are indispensable to the
healthfulness of the body, and those of the
grape as used in the “Royal” are the most
valuable and healthful of all.
Hence it is that Royal Baking Powder
produces food superlative both in flavor
and wholesomeness.

For His Lost Walker County Half-
Brothers.
Tekoa, Wash., May 18.
Editor Citizen:—I am in receipt
of a copy of your splendid paper.
I enclose amount for it. I want
you to send a copy of it to every
paper in Walker county, Ga. You
made a little mistake in one of
the boy’s names—it was Jack
when it should have been Jake.
They were Confederate veterans
I am sure. Our father’s name
was Zach and his wife’s name
was Hart before he married her,
and she Jived in Walker county.
Her people were well off and
owned negroes. I think there
were two girls, one named Mar
garet. My father ran a bloomery
forge in Walker county, but I
have forgotten the name of the
town. There is no doubt about
their having lived in Walker
county, but they may have moved
away. Any information will be
appreciated.
Yours truly,
T. C. Baker.

A DYING HUSBAND
Accuses His Wife of Having rfur-
dered Him.
Canton, O., May 22 —Mrs.
Grace Ta} lor, young and pretty,
was arrested today on suspicion
of the murder of her husband, who
was shot in bis store early this
morning. No one saw the murder,
but when Taylor rushed from his
store and fell, dying, into the arms
of a friend outside he is said to
have cried, “Grace shot me.
After their marriage a year ago
quarrels were frequent, and in one
of them Taylor, it is said, told his
wife that she had been the victim
of a mock marriage, saying the cer-
emony was performed by a friend
in ministerial garments
SENSIBLE STINSON
O w
Talks to Chicagoese About His
Race.
Chicago, May 25.—There are
too many negroes in Chicago, ac
cording to the Rev. R. D. Stinson,
chancellor of the Morris Brown
College, Atlanta, Ga., who made
an address at the Institutional
African Methodist Episcopal
Church. His subject was “Prac
tical Education for the Masses the
Redeeming Feature of the Race.”
“There are 35,000 negro men
and women in Chicago, who ought
to be started down South at once,”
said Stinson. “Fifteen years aj?o
I could get plenty of money here
for the education of the Southern
negroes, but when the green, un
substantial, ignorant horde of
brutes from the South came yelp
ing up to Chicago, where they
have free bars, free street cars,
free hotels, where they can go
where they please and talk as
they please, things were nearly
turned upside down. The South
ern negroes are not able to meet
conditions here. They are igno
rant and they are deceived. The
best negroes stay in the South,
but instead of telling these poor
people the truth, you iu Chicago,
urge them tojeome where they can
vote.
“I would urge the practical and
systematic education of all the
faculties ~of the heart, the mirid
and the head.
“There are too many poor
ministers begging through the
South. Make your daughter a
good cook and your son a good
carpenter.”
Since
then the two have lived apart.

EDWARD C. WALL
Seems to be a Candidate for Presi
dential Honors.
Who is Wall, who defeated
Hearst in Wisconsin ? It seems
that he is a bona fide candidate for
president; is a native of Milwaukee
and has been prominent in busi
ness affairs for 40 years. He was
a member of the national Demo
cratic executive committee in his
state and was chairman of the
state Democratic committee, dur-
ing which time he succeeded in
electing a governor, several repre
tatives in congress and two United
Stages senators. He stands high
as a Democrat and a citizeu. He
is a business man and a thorough
going party manager He is a
loyal, practical campaigner and the
Democrats of his native state say
that he is fit to run for president.
If he is presented for that he may
get to the cabiuet. He was born
in 1843 and is in the prime
vigorous manhood.
The coming statesmen seem to
be of this type, business men, men
of affairs, managers and planners,
the Mark Hanna kind of men; men
like Calvin S. Brice and Senator
Payne of Ohio. And of this type
Edward C. Wall is a fine speci
men.—Savannah Press.
A HORSE PRESSMAN
The Tatnall Journal Only Paper in
the World Using a Horse.
The Georgia editor is usually a
live and ingenious kind of a cuss.
In the quiet and peaceful village
of Reidsville, the capital of Tat-
n til county, is weekly seen the
novelty of a newspaper printed by
a horse. So far as is known there
is nothing just like it anywhere
else in the country, and ti e hoise
pressman attracts a great deal of
attention from visitors.
The plan to have a horse turn
cogwheels that, with the aid of a
pulley, will put a printing press in
motion and actually print a news
paper is entirely original with Edi
tor Folsom of the Tatnall Journal.
Unable to get a stead j' and reliable
negro to turn his presses Editor
Folsom was forced to experiment
with the horse, and pressed his
faithful buggy animal into service.
Now he could not he induced to
make a change. He has found it
so successful that he believes before
a great while all of the country
editors will be going to press with
the aid of a horse, or mule, or an
ox—or perchance a jackass, if that
is not already occasionally the
case.
Hats off to the editor of the
Tatnall Journal and his pressman
—Dawson News.

Weak lungs should be careful. Coughs
and colds are dangerous then. One
Minute Cough Cure cures coughs and
colds and gives strength to the lungs.
Mrs. G. E. Fenner, of Marion, Ind.,says:
“I suffered with a cough until run down
in weight from 148 to 92 pounds. I
tried a number of remedies to no avail
until I used One Minute Cough Cure.
Four bottles of this wonderful remedy
cured me entirely of the cough, streng
thened my lungs and restored me to my
normal weight, health and strength.

Had Jesus Paid it All?
“Third notice.’' Every editor
has received them. The postmas
ter sends them to the editor. The
editor is not to blame. For in
stance, there is a man by the name
of—well, say Tim Short—who
sent us three notices to stop his
paper. He did not want it any
longer. He wondered what was
the matter. Upon investigating
our subscription book we found
the Tim was short $6.70. He had
never paid a cent and yet he stop
ped his paper as a matter of econo
my to us. A few evenings ago
we stepped into church, and Tim’s
melodious voice rang out loud and
clear in the old, soul-stirring songs
“Jesus paid it all.” We might
have been mistaken, but his earn
estness impressed us. The next
day we sent him a receipt in full,
begging his pardon for not know
ing that he had made an assign
ment of his liabilities to the Lord.

MARRIED HIS STEP-MOTHER.
This Is Rather Queer Occurrance—
Two Arrested for Bigamy.
Atlanta, Ga., May 25.—Mar
ried, deserted, married again,
thinking her first husband dead,
learning afterwards that he had
married his own step-mother, and
then arrested, on the charge of
bigamy, is the fate of Mrs. Pearl
Lesage, or Mrs. Marshall, of
Oakland City. Equally strenu
ous was the day for W. Marshall,
a private in company I, Sixteenth
regiment, U. S. A., stationed at
Fort McPherson. Marshall is
the second husband of Mrs.
Lesage or Marshall, and was ar
rested by the marshal of Oakland
City on the charge of bigamy
When Mrs. Lesage or Marshall
went to the jail to ascertain the
cause of the arrest of her second
husband she was arrested on the
charge of bigamy. The peculiar
part of the whole affair is that
Lesage, the first husband of the
woman, is said to have married
his own step-mother and is now
residing at Plattsburg, Barracks,

PIANO BURNING
One Thousand of Them to Go Down
in Flames.
Philadelphia, May 22.—Despite
Mayor Stoy’s edict, forbidding
the monster conflagration of an
cient square pianos in Atlantic
City next week, car loads of the
instruments are being sent there.
It had been planned to burn one
thousand pianos on the beach, the
event to be one of the big features
of the National Association of Pi
ano Manufacturers convention.
Mayor Stoy, it is said, interfered
on account of the flood of letters
from orphanages, homes, asylums
and religious organizations beg
ging him not to permit the de
struction of property that would
give them pleasure and asking for
the instruments.
Harry E. Freund, editor of the
Musical Age, declared that, with
or without the mayor's consent,
the pianos will be burned.
