On October 27 the death angel vis
ited the home of J. N. West, taking
from him hjs beloved wife. She lived-
and died happy in the Christian faith,
having joined the Baptist church at
the age of 16 in Fannin county. She
was born in Ducktown, Tenn., but
moved to Georgia, where, in Whitfield
and ^Murray counties, she was well
known and beloved by all for her kindly
disposition and Christian devotion to
the duties of life. On October 4, 1873,
she was married to J. N. West, arid 10
children blessed their union. To the
bereaved family we extend our sym
pathy, and may He who doeth all
things well temper this affliction as a
blessing to them all.—Murray County

little friend, Ira Johnson, Sunday.
W. M. Babb has that smile on his
face again—it’s a girl.
Mr. Arthur Hays has moved his saw
mill into our community.
Mr. Bud Kennemer, our enterprising
merchant^is also in the cattle business
now.
Mr. Green Goswiek has been making
some fine improvements on his farm
that make it look much better.

The health of our little village is
very good at this writing.
Mr. Robert Parsdns is improving:
The 'country was shocked Friday
morning by the death of Mr. S. W. Cox,
who died suddenly. He was taken sick
Tuesday morning, but was almost well
until Friday morning about 9 o’clock,
when he died, sitting in his chair.
Mr and Mrs. Will Babb are smiling
over a seven-pound girl.
Mr. Sam Wood attended Sunday
school at the Chapel Sunday evening.
Mrs. Dora Cline is visiting Mrs. Min
nie Griffin this week.
Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Roach visited the
latter’s father, Mr. W. H. Griffin, Sat
urday night and Sunday.
Mr. J. A. Masters and daughter, Lu-

Affair Will Be in Honor to Rev. R. A.
Edmondson.
The business men’s class of the Sun
day school of the First Methodist
church will banquet at Buchholz’s res
taurant Thursday evening, the banquet
to be a compliment to Rev. R. A. Ed
mondson, a former pastor of the First
church of this city.
The class was started by Mr. Ed
mondson about two years ago, when
he was pastor here. Last year he
^ as siven a banquet, and this year the
class wrote him to come again this
year. Mr. Edmondson promptly ac
cepted the invitation and will be here.
He is held in high esteem by the
people of Dalton, and is the personal
friend of every member of the busi
ness men’s class.
Big preparations for the banquet
have been made, and the affair prom
ises to be one of unusual pleasure to
all who attend.
