Mr. Emmett Ralston, of Chattanoo
ga, and Mr. Fristo, of Virginia, spent
Saturday evening, the affair being a
pretty compliment to Dr. and Mrs. J.
A Hogshead, of Chattanooga.
The house decorations were chrysan
themums, ferns and palms, the pretty
house plants being used to advantage
in the rooms in which the games were
played. Mrs. Louis Crawford made
top score for the evening.
After the games, a two-course lunch

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and
[ Mrs. D. L. Cavender. She is a young
lady of great beauty, of the brunette
| type. By her charming personality
she has attracted to herself a wide cir-
} cle of friends.
Mr. Miller is one of the most prom-
L inent young business men of this city.
, He is senior partner of the Dalton Bar-
t gain Store, and is extremely popular
among his business associates.

A quiet home wedding was that .of
Mrs. Maggie B. Brooker and Mr.
Charles L. , Wood,, which . was solemn
ized at the home of Mr. W. H. Wilson
on North Depot street Tuesday even
ing at eight o’clock, Eev. C.,C. Maples
performing the ceremony.
Only a few relatives and intimate
friends were present; and the only at
tendants, were the maid of honor, Miss
; Beulah Brooker, of Grove Level, and
the best man, Mr. Henry Wood, of
Bocky Face.
The marriage of these young, people
is of intense interest here where they
have hosts of friends. Mrs. Wood has
been, for some time, employed at the
Dalton Millinery Company, and is a
young lady having, a bright, sunny dis
position 'and an extremely charming
personality. '
Mr. Wood is one of the ■prpminent
young business men of'the city, being

bles, the score cards being hand-painted
in girls’ heads; and after the games an
ice course was served at the domino
