In talking with Mr. C. N. Bond of
the Chero-Cola company, Columbus, Ga.,
with reference to the local bottling
plant, he said it was one of the most at
tractive in the South and complied in
every way with the sanitary require
ments of the company.
Mr. Bond stated his company was
very proud of their product, which was
one of unusual merit and for that rea
son they were exacting in their demands
and were, frequently considered overly
cautious by the various bottlers, espec
ially some who had been accustomed
to antiquated and unsanitary methods
of bottling.
When asked his opinion on the sub
ject, the proprietor of the local plant
laughed and said that he was quite cer
tain the Chero-Cola company was strict
enough, but with the unlimited support
they gave the bottlers he could see no
reason for complaint.

Cemetery Lot Given
City Street, Foreman
For Faithful Service
City council made a decidedly unique
gift Monday night, in appreciation of
the .services of Lee Elkins,, the effi
cient street foreman. The gift was
nothing more than a lot in West Hill
cemetery.
The matter came about in this way:
Mr. Elkins found a lot which had
washed badly and which was not for
sale among lots in the cemetery. He
asked city council to put a price on it;
but, instead, the city fathers gave it
to him, the motion that the lot be
deeded to him holding that it was for
extra work done by Mr. Elkins.
At the meeting Monday night, Chair
man Hamilton, of the street commit
tee, was authorized to employ such men
as he needed to do some needed street
work.
The bills against the property owners
for the oiling of streets during the
past summer were turned over to City
Attorney Tarver for collection.
