We are very sorry to say Mr. How
ell and wife are no better at this writ
ing. Little Addie Long is real sick,
too.
The pie supper last week was a grand
success, making money enough to oil
all three school room floors and buy
the blackboards for the new room. Our
school has installed the third teacher
now and is making a general average
of above S5, so you see how badly we
have been needing our new room and
another teacher.
Our Sunday school is also flourishing
now. We invite everyone to come and
take a part and help us. and, in help
ing others, you also receive a blessing
for we get out of it just what we put
into it. If we put nothing into it, we
need not expect anything out of this
life, and in the world to come we will
have to go before our Lord empty-
handed.
Next Saturday night, the young peo
ple will enjoy a Valentine party at the
school house, chaperoned by several of
the married ladies. Now, don’t be
afraid to come out, for we want you

Quite a number from here attended

We are having some fine weather;
it makes us think spring is not long
off, and the farmers are feeling better.
Miss Exa Stanfield and brother, Jay,
of Dogwood, spent Sunday with their
aunt, Mrs. Minnie Sisk.
Mr. and Mrs. Matt Deck, of Dune-
gan, and Miss Phoebe Broadrick spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Fields.
Miss Ollie Kennemer spent Saturday
nigjjt and Sunday with relatives at
Chickamauga.
Mrs. Edna Baxter, of Rocky Face,
spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. W.
T. Wood.
Several from this place attended the
singing in Dalton Sunday and reported
some fine singing.
Mr. Clay Kennemer, who is teaching
school at Cohutta, spent the week-end
with his brother, Mr. J. L. Kennemer.
The singing given by Misses Eugenia
and Jessie Lou Walker Sunday night
was enjoyed by a large crowd.
Next Sunday is our regular preach
ing day. Let everybody come out to
hear what our new pastor has to tell
us. Also there will be singing in the

Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Peace announce
the arrival of a brand new boy. Some
of the neighbors are wondering if he
will make a ball player like his father,
but father himself thinks he has too
strong a voice to waste on a baseba;l
diamond. He is of the opinion that he
would make a better fox hunter.
The High school basketball team
played Flint Springs one day last week.
Though on their own grounds they were
unable to hold their own against the
Cohutta quintet and retired the losers.
Misses Kate and Gladys Marshall,
of Howardville, Tenn., and Miss Cath-
ryn Hughes, of Ooltewah, were in Co
hutta Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Susie Williamson spent the last
week-end in Benton, Tenn., on account
of the death of her cousin, Mr. Walter
Burns, of that place.
Two or three wagon loads of Cohut
ta people went out to Mr. Wilson’s to
an old-time quilting one day last week
and enjoyed the day immensely, so they
say.
Miss Nita Miller and friend, of Dal
ton. were the guests of Mr. and Mrs.
P. O. Parker Sunday.
Anyone hearing strange sounds issu

The executive committee of the Bap
tist church announces that if nothing
hinders they will soon have their
church moved off the ground on which
it now stands and out on the Red Clay
road between the Pitner property and
the Mason’s hall. It is understood that
the money is already made up, and it
is only a question of the trade between
the church and Masons being closed
and a little time until it will be .on the
new location.

Sunday school was very good at Cen
ter Point Sunday morning. The sand
wich supper given by the Intermediate
and Advanced classes was very much
enjoyed.

Lucy, were guests Sunday of their

dren left Wednesday evening for their
home in Minneapolis, Kansas, after sev
eral weeks’ visit with relatives here.
Mr. and Mrs. Levi Byles, of Atlan
ta, are spending a few weeks with Mrs.
N. A. Thomas, Mrs. Rachel Byles and
other relatives.
“Grandpa” Wilson is very low at the
home of his sons near Phelps. We wish
this good man a speedy recovery. He
has been confined to his bed for quite
awhile.
The little children of Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Bennett, who have been very ill,
are very much improved.
Mrs. H. C. Smith and Mrs. Ida Bar
tow spent Thursday afternoon with
Mrs. B. L. Reavis and Mrs. H. P.
Stacy on Route 5. Mrs. Reavis has
been very sick, but is better at present.
The literary school is improving nice-

MRS. SARAH C. McGHEE
DIED IN CHATTANOOGA
Beloved Matron Formerly a Resident of
This City
Mrs. Sarah C. McGhee, aged SO years,
widow of the late lamented Rev. Z. M.
McGhee, died at an early hour Sunday
morning, at her home No. 105 Glass
street, Chattanooga, Tenn., news of her
death being received here with sadness,
for she formerly lived h-u-i where she
had hosts of friends and admirers
among the older residents.
Mrs. McGhee was an earnest, Chris
tian woman, who enjoyed the confidence
and love of all who knew her. She was
for many years, a faithful member of
the Cumberland Presbyterian church.
The funeral service was conducted
at 10:30 o’clock Monday morning by
Rev. Mr. Burrows, from the residence
in Chattanooga, after which the body
was brought here, interment being
made in West Hill cemetery, after a
brief service conducted by Dr. F. K.
Sims, pastor of the First Presbyterian
church of this city.
Mrs. McGhee is survived by one
daughter, Miss Lillie Mae McGhee, of
Chattanooga, and four sons, Mr. W. C.
McGhee, of this city, and Messrs. J. B.,
W. E. and J. C. McGhee, of Chatta
nooga.
