W. A. Broadrick. in his hour of bereavement, caused by the death of his brother. Columbus X. Broadrick who departed this life on Monday. May 23. 1921. at the age of thirty-five years, beg to submit the following: Whereas, God, in His infinite good ness and mercy, has seen fit to remove from his earthly labors this good man we feel that the state, county and com munity in which he lived have lost a valuable citizen and one who was ever ready to "do battle in the cause of justice:" his wife, a devoted husband; his children, a tender, kind and af fectionate father; his mother, an obe dient and dutiful sou. and the brothers and sisters, a tender and loyal brother. He is survived by his mother, wife and five children; two brothers and five sisters. Each girl came in with her new sewing bag finished, and brought cloth to make uni form aprons. Aprons were cut and partly made and patterns cut for caps. We have a call meeting Thursday to finish our uniforms. Will also elect new officers. Luc-ile Manis, Pres. Lizzie Foster, See. Pro Tern. 444444444444444 ♦ ♦ ♦ CLUB NEWS. ♦ ♦ ♦ Center Point. The Willing Workers' club met Fri day. June 10th. There were eleven members present. Mrs. Smith, of Five Springs, was a welcome visitor. After the program, Mrs. Moore made a forceful talk on making preparations for the fair. Instead of our next meeting being held at Center Point Friday. June 24. it was decided that we meet with the King Sewing club on Saturday. June 23th, at the home of Mrs. Clara King. There will lie no fixed program for next meeting. In answering to their names at roll call, each one will give a detailed account of what they are assigned to do at the fair in October. Mrs. Buell Stark, Sec. Cedar Valley. The Cedar Valley Chapter Commu nity Council met at the school house Monday. June 13. The meeting was called to order by the vice president. Mrs. F. J. Dantzler. Several of the members decided to make a fireless cooker and an iceless refrigerator. Mrs. Moore will give a demonstration on these at our next meeting Monday, June -7. Refreshments will be served by the members at the close of the meeting. Every lady in the community is in vited to come and take part. Frankie Cline. Sec. Dug Gap. The L. G. C. Judd Winning Sewing club met on last Thursday. Meeting called to order. Class work ed on dresses and different articles. Mrs. Elizabeth Moore. Miss Lucile Wood and Miss Cruce. of Dalton, visit ed our club. We cordially invite visit ors to visit our club and see what good work we are doing. The class is taking much interest in the work. We decided not to meet till the first Thursday in July, as it is a very busy time: but the Jessie Burton club will meet on next Thursday, June 23. We hope every club girl will be present. The Jessie Burton club meets every two weeks. Effie Gillean. Center Point The Sewing club was called to order by Mrs. King Saturday afternoon, the president being absent. There were eleven members present who sewed dresses, underwear and blouses. Miss Felicia Huston was a visitor at the club. Just when we were most interested in our work we heard the "chug! c-hug!" of a motor, and in a very few minutes we were gladly welcoming Mrs. Moore into our midst. She gave an interesting talk on clul) work and dis cussed the meeting Saturday; also made plans and practiced the songs for the coming rally day. Everyone, remember to he at the school house Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The Poultry club and Sew ing club will both meet there. Mrs. Moore will he with us. M. Jones. Secretary. Bailey and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bailey, of Chickamauga. were visiting relatives here recently. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bartow and Miss Ethel Boatwright were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Emery Clements, of near Harmony, one day recently. Mrs. Carrie Stancell was called to the bedside of her son Thursday, who is very sick at his home near East Lake, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. James Harden. Misses Etta Mae Nix and Mae I’ainter. of Crown View, spent one day recently with Miss Mamie Bailey. . Mr. Sam Bennett spent the latter part of last week with is parents in Atlanta. Miss Tommie Byraut. of Dalton, spent the week-end with MLss Ann Clark. Mr. and Mrs. J. II. Bailey and fam ily were the guests of Mrs. Z. V. Bailey and family Sunday near Dalton. Mrs. H. C. Anderson, son and daughter, Walter and Helen; Mrs. Lizzie Mae Davis; Messrs. Bill King and Dan Dagley. all of Chattanooga; Mrs. S. J. Jones, Mrs. Earl Cavender and Misses Beatrice and Erdice Williams, Fannie Mae and Mari- lou Godfrey, Essie Wilson, Felicia Huston; Messrs. George Williams and Dennis Bailey. All report having had a good time. Quite a number from here attended the all-day singing at Tilton Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Stark Ford and chil dren, of Dalton, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Ford. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. Hewey Mitchell, of Phelps, spent Sunday with Mrs. Lula Mitchell. Mrs. Charley Keen and children left for their home in Meridian, Miss., last Wednesday after visiting here, at Til ton and in Dalton. Mr. Charley Jones spent Saturday and Sunday in Chatanooga. Several from here spent last Sun day at Cohutta Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Palmer, of Dal ton, visited relatives here last Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rollins and fam ily spent last Saturday night and Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. Obe Lentz, in Murray county. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Caudell. of Harmony, pased through our burg last Sunday afternoon. We have decided to put off our Chil dren's day here next Sunday on ac count of so many of the children, who were on the program, having been ex posed to measles. Several here already have it. Mac Rollins. Annie Ruth Rollins and Lawrence Ray have it now, so there won't he any Children’s day exercises’ here next Sunday. Mc- Camy street, and claimed for his own our beloved mother and grandmother, Mrs. M. A. Jackson, on June 20. 1920. It was hard to give her up, but she went where she could live in peace and happiness forever and ever. We loved her dearly hut our loss is her gain. She leaves to mourn her loss three daughters; Mrs. W. A. Gaddis, of Chattanooga: Mrs. R. C. Dailey and Miss Edna Jackson, both of this city, and five sisters, four brothers and eight grandchildren. She was laid to rest in West Hill cemetery, funeral services being con ducted at the home by Rev. Boyd. Written by her granddaughter. Thornton, of Chatsworth, will preach at the church on next Sunday fternoon. and Rev. Crudup, of Dalton, will preach in the afternoon at 3 o'clock. There will also be singing as usual in the afternoon. Everybody is invited to come out to both services, and the singing also.
